Some of the ponds and lakes are so over stocked and nothing grows to any size. One owner wanted to get rid of the Crappie. They eat everything and he put up a sign open to fishing. Some places if you catch it you keep it. There is one nice private lake, any Bass over three or four pounds. do not release it. State Game Management Officers gives advice and sometime they get it wrong or backwards. What I do know is the States keep dropping the limits you can keep and raising the fees to fish.

I have never seen Beef Kidneys in a store, I will look closer. Some Meat Markets sell it I am told. I have fished S.C. Lake Marion, Moultrie and most Rivers below I-95 toward the coast. Seen some really strange bait stuff used. People show me stuff they use from out of state and try it on the lakes. Some end up buying Catfish to take home. I hope everybody fishing for Flatheads, catch all they want and then some. A-MEN.

My Family Attended the Fly Fishing Classes last year 2019 in Sierville Tnn. At the Orvis Fly Fishing Business. After a few classes, we went out and caught Trout. Bought all the stuff, anything and everything from different businesses. Had the addiction to fly fish bad. The Virus came and everything is on hold for the Trout. We enjoy watching these tapes and the information. I am tired of casting to Holla Hops and catching panfish. You All be Safe.

If it floats try it as a surface lure. Pull 1 or 2 feet at a time. Should interest most Bass.

Try it first, see how it works. It looks like it was modified for a purpose and was maybe lost. Sometimes the lip is removed with lead stick weight placed on the belly. Enough for the depth a person wants. Some of us in South Carolina fishing the Lake's and River's. Have tried to make a Lure look injured when retrieved or whatever . I have some I have totally messed up. But I am not throwing them away. One day they may catch a fish if only in my dreams. Be Safe out there.

Blacks Fish Camp is a nice area. Some people live there full time. In the spring people will be out fishing with a one man boat. Always watch the weather and for the stumps just under the water. Some have Rail Road spikes and big nails put there to tie a boat to or a Cat Fish basket. Sometimes the Restaurant is closed. Big fish are caught out of there. Suggest you get a Lake Moultrie Map. If you are coming down 95 to Santee. Exit 98. Two tackle shops are there and a couple in Eutawville that you will probably travel through. Good Luck and be Safe.

This is a prime example of the placebo effect- many people (including my dad) used to do this believing it was a great attractant for walleye (or bass, salmon etc.- which should be your first warning sign that it's false since many of these fish don't eat the same thing).

Why? They believe the lubricant inside WD 40 was fish oil. It is not true. What it did do, however, was make them believe it caught better fish.

WD 40 is a terrible synthetic "lubricant" (quotes because it doesn't really work it pushes water away) that you shouldn't use since it's made of environmentally terrible chemicals but also because it will actually cause many of the bearings and gears it's applied to to dry up.

This is a prime example of the placebo effect- man... (show quote)

I have heard the same stuff and have seen people spraying their fishing tackle and the water with WD-40 while fishing. watching the people fish I did not see a magic moment with fish jumping in the boat or being caught. I recently read about all the things WD-40 was good for. Some people say spraying it on the knees and joints will help joint pain. My can reads, PETROLEUM DISTILLIATES, SKIN CONTACT WASH WITH SOAP AND WATER. I use the Lubricates made for the item being cleaned and oiled. I just showed this to my brother in law who believes WD-40 is great for everything. Thanks.

I give Snakes all the chance in the world. They have tried to get in the boat. Had to flip them off with a boat paddle. My wife Connie has almost broke a Bream Buster and a Mini Cast rod keeping snakes from the boat. When fishing in South Carolina Low Country in and under the trees for panfish. Snakes can be a problem along with alligators when they have little ones close by. That is why I carry a Judge 410 Pistol and I have used it. Sulfur is sold and used around homes and tents as a repellant. Good Luck and be Safe.

My Fish Call response. I am 72 years old and fished in S.C. most of my life. Fished in other states and other parts of the world while in the Army. Retired Army and State Job. I have seen all types, .makes and models of Fish Calls. Sears sold them for a while, with Ted Williams name like their Shot guns. sears also had a TR V11 call. There is a genuinely Amish Crafted Fish Call. it looks like a Deer Grunt Tube Call. TACTIBITE ELECTRONIC Fish Call is the latest. I have seen some of the weirdest working fish calls. Most have gone to the where ever they go. I have talked with people and watched them use them. I did not see anyone improve their catch from using a fish call. If all the people that fish had bought a call from Sears. They would still be in business. I am addicted to fishing tackle and I almost bought one on e-bay just cause I do not have one. A-men. I will be fishing Christmas afternoon if my wife let's me. Merry Christmas, BE SAFE...

Hello Kenneth, welcome and glad to read your post. I enjoy talking with knowledgeable people and reading their text on different subjects. I live in South Carolina and have a second home at the beach. I fish in the lakes and rivers. I Pier fish and Surf fish. I enjoy all fishing. I have about everything to fish with and a whole lot of extras, because it looked good. I will appreciate any information that will help me be more successful in fishing. I also Dirt Fish while my wife watches the rods. I usually fish Hunington Beach State Park and Garden City Pier. The others piers are being rebuilt from our past storms. Pier and Surf fishing, tell me how you do it. Again I appreciate the information.

Thanking you kindly in advance J.T.

I am the new man on this site. I fish Santee S.C. and the river areas. I am told by friends to get rid of the Berkley Vanish fishing line because it breaks easy. I use 6lb to 17lb from Bream to Bass including Stripers. Anybody know of this problem. Thanking you in advance. John T
