Do I reel in the slack on a Carolina rig or do I leave it because it’s suppose to be a bottom fishing rig?

Looking to get some new sunglasses and was wondering if anyone here has experience with Oakley shallow water and deep water lenses. I fish primarily out of a kayak in smaller streams and rivers but do some occasional lake fishing as well. Wondering how they compare it one another and anyones personal experience with them.

I love fishing but am very conservation focused, so I’d love to do catch and release if at all possible. I’ve got my own gear as far as rod and reel, tackle, and fish descender, but my main question is how to get the fish on the boat without a gaff. I’ve considered using a pier or bridge net, but I’m not sure if that’s allowed or taboo. Are there any other tools I can use? Thanks you!

If I have a yellow and white jig can the trailer be solid yellow or white or do I need a combined trailer?

Say, for example, I wanted to fish over an area of water several thousand meters deep in the middle of the ocean, would I be able to without being penalized? That is to say I had all the relevant licensing for the boat. This might seem like a stupid question but I can't find anything online.

so i live in north east florida and for the last few years the public pond bass bite has been absolutely terrible. im talking youre lucky if u catch 1 bass an hour on a 4 inch wacky rigged senko. but when i fish a private pond the bite is great. sure you can say maybe its because of the fishing pressure or maybe the techniques i use but trust me ive tried everything.

i remember the days when i could pull up to the local pond and catch 15 bass a day. ive noticed all the public ponds i fish get sprayed so they can look pretty for the karens. bass need the cover to thrive and its super sad to see. im trying to get my saltwater loving friends into bass fishing but its very difficult when i cant show them anything. idk. what do yall think?

About a month ago I got a senator 4/0 (circa 1970s) that I restored and spooled with 25 lb Ande pink. I chose this line bc I had intended to use it mainly as my fighting reel for a king rig. For Christmas, though, I got a gift certificate for a bottom fishing trip (!!) out of Atlantic City, NC. I’ve never done offshore before so I’m not quite sure what to expect. I know the charter company provides rods and tackle and whatnot, but I’d really love to give this reel new life and get use out of it since I’m really proud of my restoration work. So I guess my question is, instead of completely despooling the 25 lb and respooling with something heavier, can I just tie on a heavier fluoro leader? Thanks!!

For those of you who like to troll, or drift fish in south Florida around ft Lauderdale, usually a mile out or so, does incoming or outgoing tide make much of a difference? Which do you prefer?

Anyone have any pack rod recommendations? I don’t like the idea of a telescopic one. I saw one before and it just seemed like junk. But if someone knows of a durable one maybe I’d try it. The pack rods seem more durable. I’d like a pack rod for salt water but I wouldn’t be targeting giants. So I was thinking either medium or medium heavy.

Why do people use various different knots other than what's good for braid/fluro/mono? Like where does the snell knot shine over a simple improved clinch knot? Is it just regional or what you came up with?

Interested in hearing what knots you use and, if you have a specific reason other than 'it works,' why? Here's mine;

Mono: improved clinch knot.

Braid: Palomar knot.

Joining lines: double uni (most leaders and braid backing on mono)

Heavy leaders: some old knot I don't know the name of. Used it for 50lbs up to 120lbs fluro without issue. Seen it used on 300lbs test before.

Anyone know of any Full Finger fishing gloves?

Not the heavy cold weather gloves I mean the normal sun protection light weight style but with a full thumb or full fingers.

Hello fellow anglers, I’ve always had issues with line other than braid on my baitcasters. My line setup consists of couple yards of mono as backing then 20-30 braid and fluorocarbon leader. The issue that I run into is that I’m too lazy to tie a new leader line. I’m looking for the line with the least memory as possible for a cheap price. Thanks
