What knots do you use?

Why do people use various different knots other than what's good for braid/fluro/mono? Like where does the snell knot shine over a simple improved clinch knot? Is it just regional or what you came up with?

Interested in hearing what knots you use and, if you have a specific reason other than 'it works,' why? Here's mine;

Mono: improved clinch knot.

Braid: Palomar knot.

Joining lines: double uni (most leaders and braid backing on mono)

Heavy leaders: some old knot I don't know the name of. Used it for 50lbs up to 120lbs fluro without issue. Seen it used on 300lbs test before.

Polamar knot, braid and flipping, trilene knot on mono and fluorocarbon if tieing directly to the bait such as rattle trap baits . For baits I want to get the most wobble out of like Zara Spooks and crank baits I use a king sling loop knot without split rings. The only exception is the plus series by Mann's bait and tackle you must use the split ring on them. I never use the improved fisherman's knot as it breaks the line by cutting it at 50% of the lines strength on a dead pull with a poundage tester. The ones I use break at 95+% of the line. I learned this from a video by Paul Ellis. He holds the BASS record four four day twenty bass limit

The trilene knot won Knot Wars as the best for mono/fluoro, and what I use. For really slippery braid like Nanofil, I use the Nanoknot which is the Palomar knot with two half-hitches rather than one. I haven’t learned to tie a good loop knot, but I will now! Thanks!
