I’ll 2nd the St Croix’s. I have 3 Curado DC’s all on Avid X. If it’s gonna be your all around set up I would go for a 6.6 to 7’ in med heavy.

All good advice. Your terminal knot to your hook or leader I recommend a Palomar knot with braid. Easy to tie and I’ve never have had one fail.

My fishing partner is also my hunting partner and my best friend. Whenever or wherever we go we always split it right down the middle. He always insists on buying lunch because it’s my boat and truck and that’s were the argument starts. We never fight about having to pay but we go at it if the other tries to pay.
Other than that if it’s someone else that I invited for the day I don’t expect anything but it’s appreciated if they kick in a little just in good faith. I’m never going to let $ spoil my fishing trip.

Agree with Rob on medium/ heavy with fast action. As for brands I’m a big St Croix fan. Go with what suits you best for feel and price. Good luck on your search 👍

If it’s in your budget I would go with SI on the console and DI on the bow. You don’t mention the type of boat, if it’s a bass boat I’d put the larger one on the bow. A 5” screen is small to see while standing on the front deck of a bass boat.

I’ve probably forgot more about my gear than you’ll ever know. But then again with your expertise you probably never got a birds nest. Better yet, read my post. I never said I have issue’s with bird nest.
