Well guys, I wanted to give y'all another update on my Mom.
She's doin better since I've gotten here and hopefully things will continue to improve.
Today was my Dad's birthday and he would have been 99.
I ask Mom if she knew what today was and when I told her the date, she said "Daddy's birthday."
So she can still remember certain things very well.
I took my BIL out to the farm yesterday and let him look over everything. Had a very good time.
On our way back through Ralls, one of the little towns we grew up in outside Lubbock, I took a couple of pics.
They were of the Main street and the town square area.
Things haven't changed alot, maybe a little more deserted than 60+ years ago. I think that might have been rush hour. There are 3 parked cars visible in the pics but just our vehicle drivin through town.
But I wanted to give y'all a look at how things were where I grew up in Texas.
The brick streets say alot. Don't know when they were laid but they've held up for ALOT of years without need of repair. More than we can say for asphalt.
I'll try to post again in a couple days. I'll try to get a pic of the countryside to show the farmland and how FLAT the Texas plains are. You can see a lightbulb burnin for over 60 miles. REALLY !

Met up with Larry at 7:30am at the Shelter Island ramp. Waiting there were about 20 sailors getting ready to go out on maneuvers in there zodiacs. A couple noticed my hat and stopped to chat awhile. Left the ramp area and we were greeted by the ship assigned to watch over old fisherman as I mentioned in my previous post. Headed across the bay and I managed to land the first fish about 8:30. Was a pretty slow day compared to some of our previous outings. Larry got on board (finally) about an hour later. So no skunks!! All in all a fun day with an old friend, and we vowed to do better next time. Could have been the porpoise that wanted to keep us company for the first couple of hours. I ended up with four and lost a couple due to line breaking. Larry got his one, and I am sure he just wanted to be a good host and let me catch more

Cassie has gotten better and stronger. She was finally cleared to drive two weeks ago but still has some discomfort. Still getting used to the ostomy and her skin is sensitive to the adhesive.

Going back to work this school year is out and during next school year she'll have surgery to try and reverse the ostomy so she will miss more work. Cassie also decided she doesn't want to go back to full time work so she and the school district mutally agreed early retirement is best. She's 65 so she can get medicare. Perhaps when this is finally all over she can get a different position at school and work part time or something else all together. It's not in her nature to not work at all, just finally slow down a little.

As soon as the Wifey wakes up, we'll start loading up to leave for Erie for a few days. Woo-hoo! Nothing better than a little time off. I'll do some fishing, take the Wifey to a dinner show, and who knows what else we'll get into..

It's 48° now and 60° later with showers. Luckily the showers look like they'll stay in our rear view mirror today.

8 yr old nephew: "To get to the idiot's house."

Me: "Oh... uh... yeah, good one, haha."

8 yr old nephew: "Wanna hear another one? Knock knock..."

Me: "Who's there?"

8 yr old nephew: "The chicken."

Hey everyone. Got to Texas yesterday and went in to see my Mom and surprised her while she was eatin dinner. She knew I was comin here but she didn't know I was here yet.
The look on her face was priceless. You're really here... You're finally here. Look.
I'm SO blessed to still have her here. Even though I know how she must feel that she's just tired of bein here and she would really like for the Lord to call her home.
It will happen at her appointed time as it will for all of us.
Until then, I'll treasure every day I have to spend with her.
I'll be leavin shortly to go have lunch with her. Later guys.
