Met up with Larry at 7:30am at the Shelter Island ramp. Waiting there were about 20 sailors getting ready to go out on maneuvers in there zodiacs. A couple noticed my hat and stopped to chat awhile. Left the ramp area and we were greeted by the ship assigned to watch over old fisherman as I mentioned in my previous post. Headed across the bay and I managed to land the first fish about 8:30. Was a pretty slow day compared to some of our previous outings. Larry got on board (finally) about an hour later. So no skunks!! All in all a fun day with an old friend, and we vowed to do better next time. Could have been the porpoise that wanted to keep us company for the first couple of hours. I ended up with four and lost a couple due to line breaking. Larry got his one, and I am sure he just wanted to be a good host and let me catch more

They didn't look like this when I was in!

Thanks old spotted bay bass guy, you keep reminding me of the places I used to fish.
Thanks for your posts.
By the way, that grey ship is the future of bass fishing.
Sincerely
Old spotted bay bassthird

So good to know you guys had a good time together, even if the catching left a little to be desired.

Nice to hear about the respect from the youngsters. That ship is definitely intimidating!! Do you think the porpoise kept the fish away or it was watching out for you too?
