This little female downy woodpecker flew into the back bay window this morning, heard the thud on the glass and put her in a box for a bit. She soon flew away unscathed. Did my good deed for the day.

Very Nice Save bk! She looks very pretty, we don’t have those out my way. Thanks for the pic

Anyone ever eaten one?
I’ve never cooked one but I have tried it and it was good.

I’ve Killed a number of them through the years, while out hunting or fishing, but I’ve never eaten one. Did make a couple Hat Bands

My wife and I love the product called Spam.
We eat Spam-a-lot ( Monty Python pun intended).
What is your take on this canned meat?
I've heard some obnoxious terms for the word Spam so please remember, this is a family friendly forum.
No wordy derds. ( spelling incorrectly also intended)
Commander Bell out

Ate some when I was a kid. But have not liked it for years now, way too Salty for me. And my Wife really hates the taste, so it’s a No for us.

How often, do you fish?
How many times a year?
What's your favorite fish to fish for?
What's your favorite time of year to fish?
You prefer to fish alone or with a partner?

You don't have to answer all the questions.
Just would like to hear some answers from some of y'all. Thanks.

As if you didn't know, I prefer to fish for Stripers.
Spring and summer are nice but I think fall might be best.
I prefer to fish twice a week but have fished as many as 3 to 5 times a week when I had my own boat.
I use to fish bout 150 + days a year.
Now I'm lucky if its 40 days a year.
I think I prefer to fish with a partner, but don't mind if it's by myself either.

Look forward to seeing your answers. Thanks.🤠👍

Great questions Saw1!
I’d love to fish a couple days a week, but can only manage that a couple 3 months out of the year. Most of that is because of Hunting Seasons and our Winter Weather. So most of my Fishing is Done from April through September.
I Prefer to Fish for Crappie, With Small Mouth a Close Second, but enjoy LM as well. And of Course I like My Ocean Trips for RockFish and Salmon.
I Prefer to Fish with a Partner or 2 as I enjoy the conversation and Stories we All have from past outing’s.
Steve, I Hope You and All our Stagers have a Great Christmas and Holiday Season!

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. I decided to sleep in a little since it's only 23° outside. Hopefully I'll get out to wet a line tomorrow, when it warms back up a little.

I Guess it’s better to be Late than Not make it to the Party 🎉 At All!🤔 So Happy Birthday Fred!! I Hope it Was a Good One For You and you got Out Fishing when it Warmed Up😁

First thing I saw was All the Eggs, second thing was the banana peel. I still don’t see a butt, just some gal in a Skirt!😉

Yongest son Ben and I went out on a whim this afternoon and really didn’t anticipate anything but it was something to do. Walked the local cricks to try and bust some ducks and instead flushed 2 geese, the kid got a double and I fired nary a shot. Pretty fun little hunt.

Great Shooting Ben! I used to love Jump Shooting Ducks and Geese, wish I could still do it. bk, quality time with your Son don’t get much better. Enjoy them All!

Some crappie will worms in the meat that shows up more often in the fall. They will look like a red blood spot in the meat. The worm will look like a twisted up piece of thread. And I believe they are called nematodes parasitic worms.

Both are interesting Mike, kind of reminds me of a Liver fluke in a deer or elk, I used to just cut them out and eat the rest. If the Liver was a green color, then It just stayed with the Gut Pile!

Gregg and I hit one of the local ponds this afternoon and had a nice time. Some gills, pumpkinseeds, the usual snot rockets and small bass. Saw some ruddy ducks and kingfishers along with the ever present Canada geese. The fish were not much into chasing mode, caught most on slip bobbered minnows. Nothing spectacular but quite a nice afternoon.

Good for you guys bk, looks like you had fun.

I was looking into the fishing report this morning and it says the outlook for fishing today is "poor"...immediately I summed up that the people putting that out there are clearly not fishermen! Ya ever heard of a "poor" day to fish? Naawwww....the fish are just the "gravy", the fishing is the meat and taters!!! Love and Good thoughts to all! God Bless....

I Agree Pam! A Good, Bad, or a Poor Day Fishing is Always Better than Any Day Working!😁

Son Ben called this morning and wanted to go hunting, I didn’t realize that today was a designated Sunday hunting day as I believe he said the next 2 are as well. No pheasants but Boonie got his first woodcock. What a joy to see him at his life’s desire.

Great pics bk, dog looks happy! We have something similar here. We call them Snipe, but they are far and few between. I haven’t hunted them for Many Years. Glad you all had some fun.
