Pike have an unjustified bad rep. Usually an easy fish to catch, but a strong fighter. Yes they are slimy? It how it protects itself. It’s bony compared to other fish, but YouTube videos will teach you how to properly fillet and remove all the bones.
Best of all, it’s a delicious fish in bountiful numbers so you can eat it frequently without risk of harming population in every place I know of.
I was fishing in Florida the last 10 days, not familiar with all the species. Bait shop employee showed me an APP caked “Picture Fish”. Very useful and free to use do first 14 days to try it out.
Throw away your Bisquick. I’ve found if it is quite old, it doesn’t make very good dumplings. I’ve never kept any kind of flour in a fridge.
It requires butter because you boiled all the flavor out of it. Steaming fish. Does it remove all the flavors.
Almost forgot the most important upgrade I made to my Pontoon. A "Powered Bimini Top". Just a push of the button to put it up or down in seconds. For 23 years I've had to manually put the Bimini Top up and take it down every time I went out which was at least daily or more all summer long. All the while be careful not to let the wind catch it, or pinch finger, lose a securing pin, etc, etc. The power bimini makes life easy for this 75 yr old disabled vet.
I'm pretty mechanical and installed mine by myself with a little help from my wife at times. Boat dealers in my area charged what I call excessive. Shop around for the best price.

So what happed to the first two, that you needed a third one?
Fillet knife is so much faster and cleaner to work with.
Really needs a dimmer switch so it can be changed as require for different ambient light conditions.
May have to just do it on my own if I can find a simple dimmer rheostats, but have been advised it should be marine qualified, which I haven't been able to locate.
You've maybe heard this already, but the biggest problem with 4 stroke is damage from operator starting the engine when it's already running because they can't hear it in the first place. My boat has a sort of shroud over the engine and you barely hear it at full throttle as the water splashes is far louder than any engine noise. I do a lot of night fishing, trolling for Walleye's and wish boat manufactures would install a dimmer control or the console lighting.
Have a similar setup, 2000, 20 ft Sweetwater w/70 Hp Evenrude 4 stroke. Take care of it and you’ll have years of enjoyment. Beware everyone thinks they know how to drive your boat, but actually they don’t and they won’t know your lake or where ever you take it. It’s these people that will damage your boat or cause injuries. If you don’t have a 4 stroke, consider a swap. Silence is golden when out in nature and you won’t hear the 4 stroke.
Buy the net with rubber coated net makes it much easier for hook removal.
I learned boating courtesy fro my grandfather many many years ago. He really gave me a scolding for not passing far enough from another boat sitting still in the water. I thought 300 ft was sufficient for a 12 ft aluminum boat and a 3 hp, but he taught me it wasn’t being respectful and courteous. Now days 300 hp’s blow by you at 20 ft. Things have changed and not for the good.
Referred to as a “Broken or Jointed” bait. Joint system gives it lots of action. Works on anything that will bite it. Doesn’t necessarily have to look like any specific fish. Have seen them to resemble a wide variety of species. Just like any other lure, sometimes some colors work better than others based on conditions.
