Does anyone else boil bluegill fillets. We call it poor boys crab ๐Ÿ˜. Probably no healthier way to eat fish. Not counting the dipping it in melted butter. Just wondered if others boiled some of their fish. This came about for me on a day out that turned into a day and a half. Had to eat ๐Ÿ˜. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ on

Only time I boil fish is in a fish Stew. And I like that. Will give it a try with some catfish. Don't have any gills.

First time no. Just boiled in a coffee can Thatโ€™s all we had But we knew it was good. So later just a little salt. I dip mine in butter. But Iโ€™ve had buddies try ole bay and different stuff. For me just a little salt. Try it. You may think Iโ€™m nuts. Had several try it. And pretty much every one liked it. You can also cook fairly large amounts of fish pretty quickly. A little lemon over fish and rice is good also ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ on

Never tried it anything but bluegill. Let me know how the catfish are that way. Iโ€™ve never had fish stew but Iโ€™m sure itโ€™s good Gordon I could tell by your post you can cook. I love to eat almost as much as I love to fish. Almost ๐Ÿ˜. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ on

Hey Griz Talking about open fire on a stick. Zoom that in and thatโ€™s striper on a stick. At that time nothing would have tasted better. Lake Powell. My brothers and I. Great times ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ on

I use a poaching pan similar to the image below. Place your filets on the rack and add seasoning to the water. I use liquid crab boil and other seasonings including lemon juice, pepper and salt. Garlic etcโ€ฆ You can make your own imitation crab meat. ๐Ÿ‘

I donโ€™t know if this qualifies, might ask Four. Redfish Courtbuillon uses cut up redfish in this Cajun dish. I believe the fish is probably steamed in it๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘

Funny how the most basic of cooking techniques runs the gamut from "caveman" to hoity-toity snooty chefs at fine restaurants touting their "poached salmon"... hehehe.

We boil Walleye when we go to Canada. We call it poor man's lobster. But you got to have some melted butter.
