I know there are a lot of cooks on here so would like advice on why I’m having trouble with bisquick does not make good dumplings does it loose the yeast if left in refrigerator to long or does the cold kill the yeast my dumplings are like row in the middle and never get fluffy I boiled them like the recipe says 20 minutes top off 10 minutes top on but raw in middle and not fluffy

Might be your making them too big. To much time to cook thru...

I remember when my dad made bisquick dumblings on the stew, it was 20 min with the lid on then 15 at least with the lid off. Should clear the raw in the middle. Good luck and tight lines!

if you are using "bisquick" for your dumplings just follow the recipe on the box and remember not to stir the dough to much or they will turn out doughy. I believe it is 10 min uncovered and 10 min covered. Also yeast in the refrigerator is not a problem but I don't think bisquick has yeast in it but has baking powder instead. I think your problem most likely is mixing it to much before dropping into the boiling stew. good luck

I think it loses its capability to rise when it gets old. We have the same problem with the dumplings not getting fluffly. I'm going to try adding some baking powder to the recipe next time.If that doesn't work, then time to toss it and buy a smaller box.

Throw away your Bisquick. I’ve found if it is quite old, it doesn’t make very good dumplings. I’ve never kept any kind of flour in a fridge.

I suggest you read up on the differences between Baking Powder and Baking Soda. You might add some of one or both to have the gas generated to fluff up.

Are you adding yeast? Are you giving them time to rise?
