Ive only fished it for salmon, from Tukwila down river to the mouth (Duwamish).
Had really good luck trolling the mouth for coho, twitching jigs and throwing spoons from shore up river in Tukwila for both coho and pinks.
Howdy, y’all.
The Tulalip Bubble opened today.
I’ve done some research and asked a couple friends about recent years action in this area.
Have any of you fished it in the last 2-3 years?
Is it worth it?
I’ve heard it’s crowded, like a lot crowded, with a fairly low catch rate and a fair bit of obstacles (such as lost crab pots).
But the lure of chinook remains….
Any tips?
I got these from a friend:
“Start on the east side of the mouth, just east off the beach. I recall about 70’. Motor NW keep the piling inside, use a green spoon or hoochie or roll a herring gun-barrel tight behind a flasher right smack on the bottom. Slow. The challenge I had was keeping the bottom as it’s a bit hilly through there and traffic can be a MF.”
Thanks!
It’s till pretty blown out and running really high so not sure if anyone is even fishing it.
I think optimal water level for fishing there is 14 - 16 feet.

Ah, got it.
If you want to run her in the rivers I’d find a jet bottom end. Will drop your HP to 35 I think, but will definitely allow you to run shallow.
With a 50 prop on a 15’ that thing will fly. Will be super easy to handle with the kicker and electric trolling motor.
Happy hunting!
Sweet little boat!
Bapa’s right.
The rivers are a tough, unforgiving place to learn. If you don’t mind running in saltwater, pink and coho will be running shortly and both stay pretty close to shore.
Is the 50 a jet or prop?
The center console steering makes it easier than a tiller handle to learn, as left is left and right is right. Just gotta get comfy with the handling and know your draft.
Do you have a river anchor?
I think a Kokanee setup is a Kokanee setup so hit lake samish and get some fish! There is also a Lake Samish post on this board as well, it’s recent and the angler got three.
What kind of boat and how big?
Marine area 2 (south of jetty) and Marine Area 2-2 (north of jetty) are not open for all species year round.
They’re open for a lot, but not all.
Too many to try and list here, as I’m on my phone, for both open and closed.
The Fish Washington app is super useful.
Jeremy, I’ve a buddy with a couple kayaks and we’ve been talking about salmon fishing from them.
Unsure if we’ll be able to get three calendars aligned, but I’m game to give it a shot.
Jeremy, would you be kind enough to share which groups on FB?
Especially if they’re open to sharing, discussing, and providing good information.
Thank you.
Welcome.
I’ve had luck with everything from corn to live worms to powerbait to eggs, jigs, spoons, and lures depending on what we’re fishing for (trout, bass, perch, salmon, flounder…).
If you would be so kind as to be a bit more specific, we might be able to help out a bit more.
That’s what I’ve heard too. Supposed to be a great run, but potentially the inverse of a season, if any season at all.
Per the current regulations, the rivers state they’re open until 31 July, but I’ve heard the spring chinook season is mostly controlled via Emergency Regulation, so I guess I’ll keep my FishWA app up to date.
I know some good bank spots on the Cowlitz, Chehalis, and Satsop.
Got a Buddy with a sled that knows a lot of the spots accessible by boat on the rivers.
I’ve a good Puget Sound salmon hunter, that can troll the Duwamish too.
Unsure if they’ll even be a season, so I’ll keep looking at the Emergency arts.
You can get river flow data for WA here:

Conditions also depend on where you are on the river.
