Kandi.... I'm right near Marlborough/Columbia. Definitely fish Columbia Lake, Usual mix of fish for this area, good LM bass lake. Let me know when you'll be here and I can give ya good spots to shore fish if you will not have a boat. Do you know anyone who can get you onto lake Terramugus in Marlboro ? Excellent bass lake, but resident and guest only fishing. Must have resident permit to use launch. Need license ( Connecticut ) also. No shore access that I am aware of.
Good small stream trout fishing in area also. Always looking to help anglers in need of assistance. Will get you contact info when I figure out how to reply privately on this site. Stand by.

Are ya willing to travel to Mass. or Ct., to fish? How far could it be to get to border areas from where you are ? Maybe some folks from there, including me, could help. I only have fished in R I on salt charters for tuna, and not for years. Have motion sickness issues and it got worse the older I got. Let us know...

I have a couple of spots that regularly produce 12# carp. I catch and release them. Use their relative strength to check drag functionality on my bass reels. Innocent fun and good method of checking out my gear
under real world conditions. One shallow muddy impoundment, I can watch them coming, while they feed and cast (gently ) in their path with sweet dough, and if they don't get spooked, I often hook up. Tip: in the summer, find a mulberry ( I think thats what they are ) tree along a bank. Incorporate some berries into your bait. They will be eating the ripe fruit off of the bottom where it drops in. Works like a charm. All fishing is good!

Wow.....That must have been an epic battle. Bluefish are really strong! 10-12 # fish kicked my butt on medium spinning tackle. Most fun there is in Long Island Sound, for us Yankees.
Imagine they grew to striper size. There would be a lot of busted tackle. Beautiful fish.Congrats.

I'll bet your wife sunburns easily, pretty darn white. I'm guessin Irish ancestry. My late Mom, nee McCarthy was like that. Took my younger brothers fishing from time to time and wore the biggest hats you can barely imagine.
Went with all of us kids to the beach, but was always sun-protected. The wonderful things that a mom will do!

Just a guess, but I suspect that terrestrial critters might wash in, attracting baitfish, resulting in prey for your intended catch. So, try around shoreline especially near steep banks or by the mouth of feeder streams.
I often bank fish, and don't mind gentle rain, unless it's really cold. I do about the same as usual.
Let us know how ya do if you decide to try wet fishing.

You beat me to it with your comment. I'm guessing a lot of folks here hunt and or target shoot as well as fish.I no longer patronize Dick's either, I'm funny about 2nd amendment rights.

Caught one, a LM bass with one eye. It chased a shiner around the surface for a while going only in a counter clockwise direction. Had only a left eye left. It was kinda skinny, I guess due to difficulty seeing prey well.
Felt kinda sorry for it so.... I ate it.

Could not agree more! My Dad taught us to pack out more than you pack in and it seems that the amount of trash being packed out has increased exponentially!! FYI discarded fishing line is my pet peeve!! Talk about a bird killer!! Time to start running the PSA with the Native American Chief crying from all the trash!!

I had forgotten about that PSA. Made me feel awful for him, although I know he was acting. Well scripted, shot, and presented. Powerful piece of media.
