As a lower division (justice court) judge in Arizona for the last 13 years of my career before I quit in 2020, I can tell you that I heard it all. Keeping a straight face was the toughest part of my job. Alternately I'd want to laugh out loud, yell "shut the f... up", or listen to chilling, horrible stories of abuse, it was never boring.
Occasionally, my bride to be (now my wife) would sit in the courtroom to see what I did for a job. The conversations she heard between attorneys and their clients was absolutely stunning. If I had heard any of these I certainly wouldn't be a neutral party.
What a great encore career! I miss it so much.

Do it! I moved back home for a reason. Yeah yeah, some say you gotta go way downstream to "find fish", but that just seems odd. 2 rivers converge on either side of me 800' from my house. I don't and won't use electronic stuff to look at fish where they live, but there's been a good population of basstypes here since I started slingin plastic worms in the early 60s. Dunno why dudes think they all moved downstream. Like a writer friend of mine, I'm a minimalist fisherman, apparently. I can fish for hours, catch one little one and go home smiling. Thanks for the kind words. You come near the west end of the Rock, holler at me and I'll share my fave castin spots.

I fished one tournament in the early 1970s in Arizona, and that was enough for me. Give me a depth finder in the water temperature and I'll be happy all day. I have no desire for any of the fancier equipment. Thanks for the great pome!

When I left the Phoenix area with a 50-year accumulation of all sorts of rods, I also got rid of 90% of them. I have fewer than 30 left here in Missouri.
Of course, I'm always looking for one of those rods that I gave away..........

I had a very successful career in land sales and development in Arizona before becoming a judge in 2007. I stayed away from all of the usual techniques but followed the advice of the late great Zig Ziglar....."You can get anything in life you want, if you help enough other people get what they want". Information was the key.

Sorta like the old Missouri farmer......he doesn't want to own the whole county, just the next 40 acres...

I was raised in Paterson during the 1950's, fishing the Passaic River below the silk plants. Only carp survived in that mess. Loved fishing the Ramapo north of Oakland where I caught my first trout in 1960.
Left for northern Arizona, and now Missouri, and never looked back.
So many folks have fond memories of growing up in relatively unspoiled outdoor areas. I'm sure Northern New Jersey waters are much cleaner now, but my life has been the reverse. I finally got it right!
You have made lemonade out of lemons! Thanks for the frequent updates....beauty is where you find it!

I don't know of anyone who gets so much pure joy out of catching fish and being at the water than you. I admire you.

I suspect we won't be back. Last week, my wife googled how fast can alligators travel on land.
So I guess everything south of Missouri is out of bounds now.

Visited Fort Morgan / Orange Beach area last December for the first time with my wife. Didn't do any fishing.

The people in those tournaments are supposed to be pros. I think if they really are pros, they should only have a depth finder,if even that, and no fish finders whatsoever.
If you would like to see a funny movie that addresses this issue, watch Bait Shop. It stars Bill Engvall so you know it's gonna be funny also.

I have a fish finder that tells me slightly more than the depth of the water, and that's it. The boat I bought 3 years ago comes with a much fancier system, but I haven't even tried to figure it out yet. What I've got fits me just perfectly.
I fished one tournament on Lake Pleasant in Arizona back in the mid-70s when B.A.S.S. was first starting to gain steam. It was one of the worst fishing experiences of my life. Too much pressure to race up and down the lake and too little time to enjoy fishing.
