Went fishing đŖ in 52 degree Back Brook this evening on a cloudy, cold day with a strong west wind. Caught and released 7 bluegills to 8â, 4 male yellow perch to 10â, a 10â largemouth bass and a 9â black crappie with worms đĒą. Only used one of my three rods because of the constant action. Lost my rig on the bottom of the brook on the last cast of the day. A great blue heron flew down the creek. A belted kingfisher flew up the creek. A double crested cormorant flew over the lake. An oil slick floated out of the sewer pipe. Found a big dead beaver đĻĢ while walking back to my car at night. Took pictures and put it on the guardrail. Reported it to Hamstat.
Good catching bands, too bad for the beaver.
Not so nice for the beaver
Love the double hook set on that bass. You got it coming and going. All we did was make a the one two and a half hour boat trip around the lake and then came back home empty handed. Congrats on your catches!

I was raised in Paterson during the 1950's, fishing the Passaic River below the silk plants. Only carp survived in that mess. Loved fishing the Ramapo north of Oakland where I caught my first trout in 1960.
Left for northern Arizona, and now Missouri, and never looked back.
So many folks have fond memories of growing up in relatively unspoiled outdoor areas. I'm sure Northern New Jersey waters are much cleaner now, but my life has been the reverse. I finally got it right!
You have made lemonade out of lemons! Thanks for the frequent updates....beauty is where you find it!

Good day for you. Bad day for the beaver.
Beavers are open season here. Do too much damage to boat houses.
That is amazing about the beaver. I didn't know they were around.

I'd have skinned that beaver out including the tail with it, left the carcass for the scavengers and tanned it. Great fur on those toothy fellows.
