I will always do that, It is a hour and a half drive one way for me. It's been many years since I've been there. My great uncle had a motel and some boats that he guided on. I am planning to go down for a day trip and want to learn what I can ahead of time. Thank you, for your advice I will use it when I get there.

In my area maiden cane is a good plant i the water drops of enough to keep them from taking over, there're all sorts of native grasses you can use. Introducing some of those into another's pond, without permission, can get you shot, and made fish food out of. For bait fish you can put all the Golden Shiners (roach) you want to in my pond, but around here you might get shot by some of my neighbors for putting them in their ponds. Crayfish are always good, I don't think anyone minds them. If you can find a ball or two of Bull Frog eggs toss them in there when there is enough cover for the tadpoles to hide in.

Once we were missing fish we'd tried all kinds of scents and nothing was working until I wiped an orange peel on my plastic worm Joking about "these are Florida fish and they have to like oranges. I caught a 5 pound bass the next cast. My brother-in-law and nephew did the same. and we all caught fish the rest of the day. My nephew actually caught the biggest bass of the day on a piece of orange peel. when nothing is working get silly

In some states you can get a commercial license so that you can sell certain fish to any one that wants them. Tournament fishing cost more than you are likely to win in most cases. To come out ahead you'll have to catch more and bigger fish than the top anglers. Try a few at home and see how you score there and if you do well branch out. The money comes from sponsors when you find some. Good luck!!

Without knowing your conditions there are a few norms where ever you fish for bass. They don't like bright light. They will search out shade, low hanging tree limbs, vegetation submerged grasses, floating hydrilla, maiden cane, lily pads, and hyacinth, are all good places to start, you'll need to fish them differently. They also like to be close to breaks into deeper water. Logs and snags are always good places to fish. If you want to fish with Live fish for bait Floats are good for all but the hyacinth, I have found it best to hook shiners behind their anal fin. Let them free spool under the weeds keeping the line just tight enough to feel your shiner.

In Florida I found a book that was county maps it showed the smallest of ponds, then I went to the tax collector's office and found out who owned them. I went and talked to some of them. Go without your fishing gear and try to get permission for later. If they say yes get a phone number so that you can call them before you come to fish. When I fished I would clean the fish at the pond and then stop by the house on the way out and offer them some of the fish. If I had only caught one nice on I would give it to them. I had people calling me at home asking when I was coming back to go fishing. Now that feels good.

Well, hello there, bullhead, you might try lighter line the fish might be seeing your line. I used to fish in some lime rock pits and had the same problem. I used some 2# test line and started getting hooked up. I had more break offs but got hooked up lots. It's fun when you can see them pick up a plastic bait off the bottom too. I haven't been able to find 2# test line locally for several years now. The lightest line walmart has is 6# but I did find some 4# test in a local shop awhile back and bought both spools that they had.

Years ago I had a braided line slip when fighting what I think was a big bass. Then I changed to the Palomar knot no more trouble there. I've never moisten my braided line but always do my mono line. Some people put a speck of super glue where the tad comes out of the knot in braided line, for insurance. Braided line Knots will last years

Jon boat, You can modify it as you want the sun won't effect it like a fiberglass kayak, overtime will develop sun damage. You, if you are like me, are more apt to get wet, not fun at all in freezing weather. Jon Boat, you can add an out board motor and get to fishing area. Depending on your load you can still pull the Jon boat over dikes and such

I went fishing with a fellow one time, he let one out in his truck. I called my wife to come get me. I was glad it wasn't my truck, I would have had to trade it. LOL

If you can Wait until you get there and go to an local bait shop and ask there what you need. It is to their advantage to steer you right, so you will come back to them when you need something else.
