Probably 1970. Driving dear old dad’s 1950 Dodge pickup. Had a flathead 6 ( imagine the power)! Drive through “snob hill”, I hit a curve and hammered it! Got her up on two wheels! It was the only way to spin the tires! Local PD was right behind me, damn! Pulled me over, chewed me out for 45 minutes! I finally snapped, “give me my ticket, or let me go”! Oh crap! That set him off. His was already ticked off because, as a rookie in town, he was told to not give tickets to the business people’s kids! He told me to go home, he followed me, and when I pulled into dad’s driveway, he turned on the lights and ragged on me for another half hour with the lights on! The entire neighborhood was awake now! When I went into the house, pops asked what was going on so I told him! Big mistake as dad was pals with the chief ! Mt get out of jail free card was now expired😂😂

Greetings Kin, I’m in central Minnesota. Where is this lake? We have struggled to get good ice here! Many life threatening issues in the north, ala Red Lake by Bemidgi. Getting some freeze up lately and a few ATV’s venturing out in our area(Alexandria). Be careful, and check with the bait shops in the area as to ice conditions!

After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children and my friends, I have now started loving myself.

I have realized that I am not "Atlas". The world does not rest on my shoulders.

I have stopped bargaining with vegetable & fruit vendors. A few pennies more is not going to break me, but it might help the poor fellow save for his daughter's school fees.

I leave my waitress a big tip. The extra money might bring a smile to her face. She is toiling much harder for a living than I am.

I stopped telling the elderly that they've already told that story many times. The story makes them walk down memory lane and relive their past.

I have learned not to correct people even when I know they are wrong. The onus of making everyone perfect is not on me. Peace is more precious than perfection.

I give compliments freely and generously. Compliments are a mood enhancer not only for the recipient, but also for me and a small tip for the recipient of compliment, never, NEVER turn it down, just say "Thank You."

I have learned not to bother about a crease or a spot on my shirt. Personality speaks louder than appearances.

I walk away from people who don't value me. They might not know my worth, but I do.

I remain cool when someone plays dirty to outrun me in the rat race. I am not a rat and neither am I in any race.

I am learning not to be embarrassed by my emotions. It's my emotions that make me human.

I have learned that it's better to drop the ego than to break a relationship. My ego will keep me aloof, whereas with relationships, I will never be alone.

I have learned to live each day as if it's the last. After all, it might be the last.

I am doing what makes me happy. I am responsible for my happiness, and I owe it to myself. Happiness is a choice. You can be happy at any time, just choose to be!

I decided to share this for all my friends. Why do we have to wait to be 60 or 70 or 80, why can't we practice this at any stage and age?

In Minnesota, they are treated as the same in regards to catch/possession limits. One has a spot on its dorsal fin, the other does not. And I don’t know which! You would never taste the difference, in my opinion!

This little female downy woodpecker flew into the back bay window this morning, heard the thud on the glass and put her in a box for a bit. She soon flew away unscathed. Did my good deed for the day.

We have had several…..Several birds slam into our patio door! We have mega feeders in the yard, just off our deck! The bride has given many of them CPR, comfort, peace, release! She has a great success rate going!

Mr. Al, I gotta know what you would have to camouflage them Vienna’s with to make them tolerable! Tried them back when I was in Boy Scouts! Just can’t do it!.Had pretty much every king of sausage sticks and weinies! Love hot dogs

Amazing how, back when we were cruising around in our “whatever”. We bobbed our heads, pounded the steering wheel, shook and gyrated, but never “heard” the lyrics! Still listen to those classics today but am “hearing” what they played!

In rural Minnesota, when you’re heading out, you stop at the bait shop. They may have some split shot, or some jig heads, along with some various crank baits. But these are along with some Hostess Fruit Pies, a half gallon of milk, and a quart of oil! They are small mom&pop stores that need our business! I’ll grab some jerky along with my waxies and crappie minnows and perhaps top off my tank! Cuz if they’re not there then what!

I used to do a lot of camping out and SPAM was usually one of the food item's I'd bring with us. Other must haves is egg's, bacon potatoes, half gallon of milk, onions and camping skillet, Dutch oven, shovel and foil, premixed fish badder and fresh vegetables. SPAM in scrambled eggs or in HOBO dinner's I'd bury underneath hot coals. Of course we'd catch catfish on our trotline clean a couple for an evening meal too.I don't know why it posted twice either

Grew up in scouts and did a lot of camping as well! Wouldn’t even think of heading out without two meals of spam! Ate it at home growing up and brought it into my marriage! Boy oh boy was that a mistake! My bride grew up on a hog farm! Canned spam was sacrilege! After 47 yrs together, have been able to pop a can or too, just as a reminder of good days gone by 😁😁

Yep! New construction was almost as cold inside as out - just a bit less wind!
Fortunately, for many years we were doing trim work on new houses, up until the late ‘70’s. That’s when we started the remodel business. 1978

Randy, as a floor layer all my working career, if it wasn’t 65*, we didn’t install it! Raise cane with the job super, there was heat the next day!

I JUST READ WHERE 122 PEOPLE RESCUED FROM WISC LAKE ICE FLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually it was in Minnesota, on Red Lake after they previously rescued 30 others! Most of the resorts that cater to the ice fisher folks, are shut down! The lake we are on,typically has a village of wheel houses out there, dozens of them. Now there are zero!

Indeed he will! Watched the crew of “great” friends help the second victim, reclaim his shanty! They were at it for nearly three hours! Ended up dragging it on its side to the landing where they were able to flip it back on its wheels! By the way, it was raining the entire time! As an aside, now the 26th, Lake Minnewaska, to the south of Alexandria, is now dang near wide open!
