Try the Bill Williams arm heading towards the bridge. Look for boiling or birds diving

My wife and I put in our Kayaks at Bill Williams River this morning and spent about 3 and 1/2 hours on our way around the peninsula and never saw a boil. I had one hit and missed it probably a large mouth on a crank bait but it's hit or miss for the most part. One pontoon boat had several young kids fishing off of it catching small stripers as they must have got into a school of them but using bait where I'm usually tossing lures.

I put my kayak in next to Parker Dam on the South Shore yesterday morning by myself and paddled North into some breezy conditions. Never had a hit all morning so ended up about a half mile south of the dam caxting in a small cove. I looked over and saw what I thought was a big catfish on the bottom, and as I got closer I noticed it was the head of a horse or probably wild Burro. The Granite Cliffs in the area are very steep and it would be easy to fall in if trying to get a drink of water. It makes you wonder how the head got severed from the body?
You can see a Burro in the upper center of the mountainside photo I took on Saturday.

Alright. I don't particularly care for fish, But, I really do like Striper.
Sue soaks mine in Frank's hot sauce for 30 min or so then rolls it in flour and fries it in just a little oil till golden brown.
Not hot at all, just a slight hot wings flavor.🤠👍

Wow Saw that sounds really good, maybe tomorrow night!

Are cast nets leagle to use on Lake pleasant or Bartlet resivor?

Check with Arizona Fish and Game but I feel certain that they are legal and there is a maximum I think it's a 3-ft net. But I see people casting them around here in Lake Havasu going after shad to fish for stripers.

I used to be a pretty good LMB fisherman way back in the day, but life’s responsibilities have kept that pursuit to a minimum for the last 20 years and I haven’t kept up on today’s equipment. I’m hoping to get back on the water before long and want to buy my adult son a good quality spinning reel with a matching rod for Christmas. The fishing would be mainly for small to medium size lakes in San Diego County for bass….and maybe crappie and bluegill. I don’t want cheap or low quality and am assuming that a range of $180 to $230 would work to get both components. (I can spend more if critical). Somebody correct me if I’m wrong and/or suggest some equipment for me. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I just received a recommendation for a bass Rod real combo from a friend and went to our local bass shop here in Lake havasu. They have plenty of rods at $259 a piece but was amazed to find that recommended combo at $49.95 and it was a Daiwa Crossfire and I have to tell you that it quickly became my very favorite rod and reel in the last few weeks.
It casts a country mile where I usually use a third ounce crankbait and I've never seen a reel that will fly out there so far, something to consider at a very reasonable price.

SD, if you’re looking for a quality setup that will cover your bases I’ld suggest a Fenwick HMG model HMGPX76ML-FS paired with a Pfluger President 30. This rod and reel are solid performers and I believe best bang for your dollar, balance well together and should cost you less than $200. I wouldn’t want to throw large topwaters or plastic worms with it but it’s an ideal setup for throwing paddle tails, small crankbaits, and finesse dropshotting. The combo would work well for bass and panfish, again with the exception of large topwaters and things such as Texas-rigged worms.

It's funny BK that I have a very similar setup with a six and a half foot rod and I find that it just doesn't cast very well for some reason. I have 20 lb braid on it and I use it to fish with plastic worms pretty much only and don't take it out very often just because again it doesn't cast very well. I've always loved the President reels and I have three of them on different rides but this one is probably my least favorite.

Took advantage of the warm spell and hit Lilly for my last trip in the boat. 46° at the ramp, and the water was 49°. Lots of floating wood and debris since they raised the water level after the drawdown. No luck up in the cove or any mainlake flats. All the deep fish were Rockies. Headed (carefully) down to Pond Brook, and found more Rockies outside the mouth. Inside I found some small Largemouth and one decent 1.5lb fish. The next couple passes over the school resulted in 2 rigs getting bit off by toothy critters. I didn't feel like dealing with them so I called it a day. The weather for the next couple weeks looks cold, so I'll winterize the boat next week and put her to bed. Hopefully I'll get out to hit a bank or 2 before the snow flies.

Hey Fred looks like he had a nice day, it was too bad you have to wrap up your season this early but I guess it is cold back east and better get that boat winterized. Enjoy the holidays!

Great job and nice pics!

Thanks a lot, we pan fried three filets tonight with lime juice and broccoli and Jasmine rice and it was delicious. Tasted a lot like Alaskan halibut, white and flaky and really needed nothing but the lime juice to flavor. Tomorrow night on the grill for fish tacos!

Thanks fellas, yes I think they would have bitten just about anything you threw at them at the time. But we stuck around for about 20 minutes casting in the area and never had another hit and didn't see them again, so they come they go!

I've been reading on FB that Striper fishing has been hot all over Havasu and I haven't found that to be the case. Up at Site Six and at Mesquite Bay for the past week or more. So I took my wife Josie down to the South Shore and we put in at Take Off Point next to the Parker Dam and headed north in our kayaks. We were trolling and casting for largemouth most of the morning with zero luck and decided to head back about 12:30 to the ramp.
I saw some water thrashing about 100 yd in front of me and I paddled up and made a few casts and hooked into a three and a quarter pound Striper on my crankbait. There were two or three chasing him to my kayak and so I told my wife to get over and make some casts around me which she did with great success. These were both personal best for us, hers was over 4 lb and a beauty so brought them home and fileted them and we'll have fish tacos tomorrow night.

Beautiful fish Mr. Langer! Congratulations on your personal best.

Thanks KC, as you know Havasu has been kinda dirty the past month, lil green with an algae outbreak so Mojave was a nice change. You could see a lil algae growth there too but it's still so clear.

Sorry Griz...I just noticed they're called Morning Dawn by Yum 5" Dinger. (Purplish/Blue) with a circle hook which are always good but at least he didn't swallow it.

Took a trip up to Lake Mohave this morning, an hour north of Lake Havasu and put my kayak in at Katherine's Landing on a nice sunny Arizona morning. I lost a 2 lb Smallmouth as he jumped three times, got him close to the yak and off he went. Soon after I was drifting a Morning Glory plastic worm across 25 ft of very clear water and ended up in a cove, picked up the rod and had a big fat Smallie on the other end. Hooked well and a good fighter. A fun morning... plus a personal best at 4.05#!

Took my wife Josie to Parker again yesterday to have a little bass fishing morning on the small pond off the Colorado River on the California side. I caught a few largemouth, small ones and one maybe two - two and a half pounds which is the biggest that I've ever pulled out of this small pond.
I've always thought that the fish are stunted here and as it gets very little action and probably not a lot to feed on. Then Josie screamed that she had a fish on and it was a 12 in fat crappie. He broke the line somehow and she soon found the fish swimming on the surface along with the line so she pulled it in by hand and got him in the yak. She cooked him on the grill last night for dinner and meat was very nice and white... fun experience.
