Spent a few fun days with my son and old buddy. We caught fish every day and ended up releasing a bunch of good eaters yesterday.

Congratulations! That is a super snook. I have taken expensive trips to South and Central America just to catch snook and only caught one about a foot long!

Then my son and I were catching to bait just off shore at Jupiter, FL and something broke his Sabeki Rig. He tied on another and suggested I put on a live bait and see if I could catch whatever had broke his line. I did and caught a snook about the same size as you have pictured. Just Sayin...RJS

Hi RJ, did the Snook you caught have the sabeki rig in his mouth?

Nice little fish. Congrats on your first one and hope there are many to follow

That was my first keeper because the 41" fish was over the slot limit. You can only keep it in Florida if it's 28-33"

Caught my first keeper snook yesterday! 32" Fought like a muther! It was delicious too. Like halibut or cod.

If the trailer has rollers instead of carpeted bunks don't remove the safety chain till the stern is in the water!

Had a fun day in the gulf and inshore. Went with my neighbor who's teaching me a few things about the terrain and techniques. We caught grouper, sheepshead, seatrout, mackerel, redfish and a few other non-gamefish. Saw several turtles, dolphins, otters, eagles and many ducks. Great day!

RJ, Suwannee River is an inland freshwater river.

HC, the Suwannee dumps into the gulf at Steinhatchee. Great inshore fishing for reds, trout, snook etc.

I have a df 15 on my jonboat and a df 115 on my 21' Carolina skiff. No complaints. I've done PM on both like oil and gearcase lube. Plugs, water pump and replacing the annodes. I'm impressed by the machining, fit and finish. They run quiet and clean and economical. I talked to one fishing guide that said he sold his old boat with 7000+ hrs on the motor and says he still sees the new owner and it now has over 9000 hours on it.

Hi Croz,. I'm a snowbird too. We live in old Homosassa. Been learning the area for 2 winters. Ozello is tough! No problem for me finding the rocks. Fish is another story though. Email me and maybe we can get out. I have a boat too. (personal info removed)

Hi captain Robert. I may be able to help you. An old friend of mine that no longer has a boat or fishes gave me several pages of numbers. I think some are from that area. Email me your contact info and I can send you a screenshot of some. They need to be converted to lat lon. My address is: (personal info removed)

Monday's conditions were favorable so we gave her one last shot. Had a good day out there! Limited out by about 2. We had 6 fish over 5 lbs. Sad to put the gear away but it's time to move on to bow season. Soon after that pheasant season! Before we know it we'll be in Florida chasing redfish, snook and speckled trout. Life is good!

I saw a lot of people use funky-colored Braid line, and I was interested where to get it from. My local Walmart/Dicks does not seem to carry anything outside Green.

I already use 7'-'12; (feet, not Inches) of Flouro Leader, so the color should not really impact presentation, but it should allow me to better see where the line goes into the water.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

We use different colors on each pole if possible. With 2 guys trolling 6 or 8 poles all the time when you get a tangle it's the only way to undo the mess short of cutting and re tying everything!

GG,
Stay away from the mouth of the Niagara if you're having engine trouble! The current is wicked! If you need a 1st mate someday give me a shout. Maybe I can give you some pointers? My email is (personal info removed).
