Had a fun day in the gulf and inshore. Went with my neighbor who's teaching me a few things about the terrain and techniques. We caught grouper, sheepshead, seatrout, mackerel, redfish and a few other non-gamefish. Saw several turtles, dolphins, otters, eagles and many ducks. Great day!

The fish on ice make me hungry. Slice dice and have some sushi if possible with one of those. What type is the shiny tuna looking thing? Can you make sushi with it?

Silver one is a Spanish mackerel. Good fighter and beautiful meat.

We’ve caught lots of mackerel off the Oregon coast. Anyone familiar with the fishery has caught lots of them but a really big one near shore is about 20”. Most are caught salmon fishing over there. Good little eaters though. Probably catch 1/2 dozen or so every time we go salmon fishing off the coast over there. And you are right. They are fighting machines. Not sure about yours but the ones off the Oregon coast are easy to tell vs a King salmon when they hit. Really fast shaking battle. Nothing like an old slug King salmon.
