Check under the reel foot that attaches to the rod. Some of my reels serial numbers are there.

Also the reel and line aren’t matched to your rod or your spool doesn’t have enough line on it.

I have a abu garcia ambassador ultra mag xl plus I bought in 82. It’s a baitcastor. It can get sluggish on occasion, but a good cleaning and oiling always works for me. Could be your magnetic braking system is set to max and your adjustment knob is tightened to tight.

I just cleaned the aforementioned real and spooled fluorocarbon on it. I thought I adjusted it ok, but I was way off. First cast, a big birds nest! Readjusted and all is good to go!

Good luck with your reel! Rutinbuck

Welcome: In the morning they will be in the shallows hunting, They will be aggressive. As the day gets warmer they will head for cooler waters and settle in to digest their prey, they will get sluggish and disinterested. Large feathery lures with bright flash will get their attention. Vary the retrieval speed and depths. A beautiful place to fish. Enjoy your trip.
If you can check in with a local shop. Sometimes guides will let you play along. (follow).
Keep your eyes open and watch the logs, tall grasses. Any good ambush spot will hold fish worth photographing.

I am heading to Osakis lake in Minnesota and will be fishing for like. Be going there on 3rd of September. Will the pike be down deep or back in the shallows? Any help on lures/soft bait ideas would be appreciated.

When I had been driving, around 17, I had a flat tire in dads car. I pulled over, opened the trunk, unloaded his fishing poles and tackle boxes. I changed the tire and put the stuff back in the car. I got home and told dad about the flat and he immediately went and checked the trunk. No poles or tackle boxes!

We drove back to where I changed the tire and they were gone! Dad never said a word all the way home. He never ever said anything! I would have felt better if he would’ve just beat the crap out of me.

Don’t know where my head was that day. I spent the rest of the summer helping him get new gear!

Hey anybody ever eat at the 4 th street cafe in edwardville ??? That’s been there a long time too pics are great inside I think they’re original pics .

I’m from Wichita but never been to edwardville. This has been a good year for catching flathead catfish. I’ve caught a 35, 12, 2 tens and a 9 this year all out of small creeks when the water was up. If you know where the deep holes are that is where you want to fish. Flatheads really like bluegill. Buy some worms and go catch them, cheaper than paying 2-3 dollars a piece at a bait shop. I put them in a 5 gallon bucket with an aerator to keep them alive. I use 9 foot rods and good size reels, 25# mono line. 3 to 8 ounce weights. I hook them behind the dorsal fin. They take their sweet time playing with it, so don’t get in a hurry to set the hook. You will know when it’s time when your rod starts bending. Set the hook, hold on and have some fun!

Mostly interested in catching like and walleyes. What lures would work best for this time of year? Also best line to spool up on 4 baitcasters and 2 spinning reels?

Flathead catfish 40+ pounds (not weighted) on my dads pole with a baitcaster, 8 pound line that should have been replaced 3-4 years prior to catching that fish. He was always lucky at everything especially fishing. All the big fish have been caught on his poles!

Hi guys! I’m 70 years old and have been fishing since I was a kid. I mostly fish for bass and catfish. I live in Kansas and have lived here like forever.
