Nice job on the boat, very slick. Check to make sure you are getting a full 12amps to your Elite 5. I had a similar issue on my Lowrance and something was drawing the power down so I ran a dedicated line to the depth finder and that solved it. Support at Lowrance said if you drop below 12amps, it will start acting up. Worked for mine....good luck!
Yeah, I’m wired straight to my battery. I’ll give Lowrance a call tomorrow and pick their brain…🐟on
Nice looking boat. I love the colors

Well I finally got my boat back together after replacing the fuel tank all the fuel lines and removing all the carpet and applying a rubber granular paint on the floors. So concerning the help I’m needing I had it in the water yesterday and when I turned on my fish finder everything seemed find. But towards the end of my outing the numbers the indicates the depth started blinking. And now that’s all it does. The temp and speed numbers seem to be ok. And it’s showing 60’ sitting in my yard. (blinking) It’s the Lowrance Elite-5. This is something out of my wheel house. When it comes to electronics I’m about as smart as a rock…😜have any of you had a similar problem with your FF…🐟o

Sounds like something happened after you put the boat in the "water". So thinking about that, has the water found a path into the wiring outside of the transducer or into the transducer itself?
What a great job you've done so far. The flashing depth usually indicates you are not getting a "readable" signal from the transponder. Seeing that it worked ok to start with, I'm wondering what changed. If you were right on the hairy edge of getting a good signal earlier, maybe the water line changed so you're out of tolerance now. Did you use enough fuel so that the depth of the xponder changed? I'd mess with the transponder mounting. That thing has to be level, dead-on, middle of the bubble level.
Thanks again guys for all your knowledgeable input. I think I’ve covered most of the logical possibilities of what could be the problem so until I can get it back in the water to do a real test I’m kinda at a standstill. We’ll keep ya posted…🐟on

Nice job on the boat DD. Can’t help other than what Fred said and maybe resetting your system. If all else fails, use that rock and a rope to take soundings. It’s foolproof. 😁😁😁
You don't know the fools I know.

We may have mutual friends. 😁😁😁
I was looking at my Lowrance the other day and I saw that you can damage the transducer if it’s used out of water. It gets hot and doesn’t work right. I didn’t turn mine on out of water so I don’t know what the fix would be. Good luck.

Thanks, Dakotah. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens after I get it back in the water next week. It maybe time for a new one. It’s a good excuse to anyway😜…🐟on

Thanks, BD. Yeah I’ve been searching YouTube and I’ll go out tomorrow and see if I can figure it out. Thanks for your input…🐟on
When you go to the lowrance website there are some good troubleshooting tips. I held down the 2 buttons they said to hold down for so long & it fixed the problem on my elite 7. Great job on your boat.
Hey Dave, great job on the rebuild...looks great!!
Is it possible the transducer is coming out of the water & giving u false signals

Well, I've got no advice, but, it looks like you sure did a nice job at the refurbishing of the vessel, in general... I like the sound of that deck-paint. 1 "glass" boat I'd worked on, was overdue for a "paint job"... The Captain sprinkled washed and dried beach sand on the wet first coat of GelCoat; let it dry and covered it with more GelCoat... Worked like a charm.

Hey Dave, great job on boat, you may have your problem solved with your fish finder by now with all the great advice already given ,I had a similar problem with my hummingbird fish finder mine turned out that I had got in to shallow and the transducer had gotten tilted. It read fine up on plane but when slowed down to troll the bow of boat was low enough that it would not read depth ,only off and on anyway good luck.
