Tell ya what I did one time with my new Garmin

Turned it on and everything looked good. Fished a while and noted something wasn’t quite right.
I failed to turn off DEMO mode.
Duh!!!

During the time you had things apart, by chance did the fishfinder head ever get a serious bump or drop that you recall? If there was a way to get a "loaner" transducer just for a day, perhaps you could suction cup it or do a duct tape mount with the cable just hanging inside the boat while in the water to see if the head is good...which would definitely isolate the issue to the transducer...especially if all was known to be in perfect working order before the major repairs were done...which by the way tuned out awesome!

Also, make sure to check connections were the cable connects to both the transducer, and the FF. A loose connection could cause a make/break connection that would cause the symptoms you are experiencing. And verify that the connections are water tight.

I want too say thanks to all you guys for your positive comments on how my boat turned out. I’m very pleased with it. I’m not sure yet on what’s going on with my FF. In my redoing the boat the FF was never disturbed. No cables were disconnected. No wires were disconnected, nada. Like I was say’n, I put it in the lake to be sure that it was going to run okay after changing out the fuel tank and the FF was working fine. It was when I was getting ready to put it on the trailer that I noticed it was “ blinking”. So I appreciate all your input and will apply all of it in my pursuit in figuring this out, thanks again…🐟o

DD if it happened at the ramp it could have been debris moving around under the transducer. Just a lot of possibilities good luck brother 👍👍

Hey,dbed. What I used was called “TuffCoat” non-skid coating. It’s granulated rubber. Just google it and it will give you a good description. I purchased it from Amazon…🐟on

Sounds like something interfered with the depth reading. The simple solution and often the problem is that the transducer plug is not pushed in tight. Remove the plug and reinsert it. Be sure to it is it in very tight as the plugs on that unit are very finicky. It also happens some times when the depth is too great for the setting or the boat is moving to fast. A loss of 12v power can also do it. Turn your unit off. disconnect it and make sure you have 12 volt at the plug for the unit. Re plug then turn on in fairly shallow water, say 10 feet while stopped where it can get a good reading. It should reprogram itself. If no luck, reset to all original settings, turn off and try again. Switching to simulator should give you a normal screen with simulation. that will clearly indicate the problem is in the transducer or transducer connection as well as clear the crap off the screen. After running simulator, go back to normal mode. Look at transducer and make sure it is mounted correctly and has not been bumped to some crazy angle. Make sure the transducer mounting screws are tight. All this said, I would bet the transducer plug is just not pushed in all the way. Do all the testing in the water so the unit has a bottom to reprogram against. Also put your scroll speed at max while testing

Nice job, having done this before, it took a while, glad you back on the water, with class. Now it might be your wire, or the transducer itself. Unplug the wire from the unit and scroll thru, what you can. If it is still having the problem, well it would seem to be the unit. Good luck, and let us know.

Hey Dozer let me know how it holds up. I got stuff for house deck. Guaranted for 10yrs. It didn't last thur 2nd yr. Everyone that called in was told it was due to faulty application. Co went out of business quickly

Not at all familiar with your unit. Factory reset good advice. How deep is the water? Is it really reading 60’? Might be on Metric. 60cm would be a couple feet. The flashing could be because it is warning low water per the settings.

Nice job on the boat, very slick. Check to make sure you are getting a full 12amps to your Elite 5. I had a similar issue on my Lowrance and something was drawing the power down so I ran a dedicated line to the depth finder and that solved it. Support at Lowrance said if you drop below 12amps, it will start acting up. Worked for mine....good luck!

Well guy’s been at it for a couple of hours now but too no avail. Threw everything in the book at it. Watched several videos and used all your recommendations. First I cleaned and greased the connection with dielectric and made sure everything was good and tight. Went to factory default and reset, nada. Did a soft reset, nada. Did a hard reset, nope. So l’m going wait until I get it back in the water next week and see if that makes a difference. Could be my transducer took a 💩😜🤷‍♂️…🐟on
