Spent a week on Big Maniatique a couple years ago. All the bluegill were only about 5 inches long. Had good success bass fishing with plastic worms. If I ever go back will concentrate on bass.

Same here, bait caster for heavier lures and trolling. Spinning reels for smaller lures.
