Sounds good! You should have no problem getting Walleyes on Osakis! Lake of the Woods always comes through!!!
You shouldn't have any problem catching either or both of those on Lake Osakis. Walleye, especially, are well-stocked almost every year, including COVID years.....They have a very strong Lake Association that makes sure this is done. There's something like 6 resorts on the lake you can check with. Also the General Store in Osakis would be a good place to check as well. Good luck!
Nice catch! Say, I'm going to be visiting the Redondo Beach, CA, area, from Minnesota, in a couple of weeks. Do you have any recommendations on where a guy could go to do some shore fishing, either at a lake, or the Ocean? I'd really like to try some while I'm out there.
Thanks,
Tom
Are there walleye at the CR Dam? They're biting on the Mississippi River right now, and have a tendency to bite in the rivers, early in the spring..........
Anyone know of any place where the fish are biting around the Twin Cities right now? A good, on-shore, place would be nice.
Thanks.

With the weather as warm as it has been, may want to verify there is even ice to fish on..?
My nephew has a place on one of the Crow Wing Lakes and the ice there is good for fishing. He's caught some nice walleyes and a northern or two, in addition to crappie....
Great! Thanks! I'm going to check out Eklutna Tailrace tomorrow.
Anyone know any good, shore fishing spots around the Palmer, Alaska, area?
It doesn't matter what kind of fish. I have one guided trip planned, but I'd like to do some beforehand, if possible?
I have my own pole and some limited tackle - enough to get by, I think?
Any advice would be great! Thanks!

Nice! Good job! Man, wish I'd known about that lake when I lived in Seattle.

Looks like I missed a few of those opportunities as I'm just reading this. Thanks for all the tips broken rod, but no biggie! We still had a ton of fun catching bass. More than we could count π. Driving back towards Iowa this morning and going to .are a pit stop and try our luck at Lake Okaboji. Wish us luck! π
Well, you definitely scored some nice bass, so that definitely works! I hope I gave you some stuff to think about next trip!
I have never fished Okoboji, so, unfortunately, can't offer anything there. As I grew up in Ames, Iowa, I have plenty of friends that spend time there, but mostly just to party! Ha!
Okay, good luck!

Hey. I almost forgot that you had mentioned walleye in one of your first posts, I believe?
I don't know if you do any night fishing, but usually the best walleye fishing, in my experience, is at night, on Lake Ottertail.
If you go down to the southwest public access, launch there, and then just go straight over to Zorbas, and about 100 yards straight out from them, is some of the best walleye fishing in the county! You'll very likely see boats out there, when you go, and Zorbas should be lit up, so it's not hard to spot. For whatever reason, the wallys with the most size bite at night over there. My next-door-neighbor on the lake brought home about a 7 pounder one night from that spot. My nephew nailed some around the 5 pound range there. I have caught some in the 3-5 pound range around there. I have also caught some nice-sized ones right off the bridge of the public access, where the river meets the lake, at night. A couple of years ago, I got about a four pounder fishing right off the falls on the west side of the bridge. Fishing right by the public access during the day can be really good too.
Okay, good luck!

Not very big it was a baby. Probably close to 22 inches
Ahhhh......I'm sure there must be a few big ones roaming around that lake.
Have you had a chance to check out Phelps Mill yet? I'd really be interested to hear if anything's going on there? It's really easy to just shore fish next to the mill, and it's always been my 'go to' place for some nice pike, and just a nice park to walk around in too.....walking inside the mill and checking out it's history can be fun too......I've fished there for over 50 years, so it has always held a special place in my heart.......
