Looking for Minnesota fishing Tips. fishing Battle Lake & Dead Lake
I primarily bass fish but hoping to also catch some Walleye (for eats), nice crappies (for eats), and a bonus would be a trophy π muskie. π. Welcome any insights into what the fish are doing up North.

For sure! Thanks Fred fish. My brother is flying in from SoCal and one way or another we are going to catch some species of fish he has never seen before. Prime time Spring fishing so hopefully it's a good one π
A friend of mine scored some nice bass in Rush Lake the other day, and he really scored a bunch of nice crappies. The bite is on!
Cool, thanks for sharing information Brokenrod, that's not too far from battle lake where we are staying. A lot of options for sure. Really appreciate it!
No problem! Let me know how it goes.....I would also recommend Phelps Mill, on the Ottertail River, but I have a feeling, with all the rain & snow we got this spring, that it's probably too high and too fast, right now, for good fishing, but I may be wrong?! When the bite is on there, you can get some very nice bass & northerns. The pond right by the river could have some good things going on. I've gotten some really nice sunny's out of there. They love wax worms!
Another good place for bass is Molly Stark Lake, just east and a bit north of Battle Lake. This lake is great, in that most visitors don't know about it - only the locals. There have been times I've been the only person on the entire lake! It's kind of hidden.
Again, good luck, and please let me know how it goes?
I will thanks for the tip on Molly Stark lake. That is really close to battle lake where we are staying so I may have to pop in. Hopefully the ramp is deep enough to get my boat in. I have an almost 19 foot deep V skeeter solera fish and ski.

Given all the rain and snow we've had, I would assume the water's deeper than usual, so I would think it shouldn't be a problem, but you could probably stop at Ben's Bait Shop and check with them, just to be sure.
Have you tried West Battle Lake yet? That traditionally is a great bass lake! You shouldn't have any problem launching there.
Good luck!

Awesome tip, I will definitely give Ben's bait shop a call as it has been difficult trying to find fishing reports for those lakes. We are actually going to be staying at the Battle Lake Inn on West Battle lake and I plan on fishing that one of the days we are there given it is supposed to be a trophy musky and good walleye lake. Being from California originally, my brother has never seen a lot of the species we have up close so it would be great to get him hooked into something like that for sure :-).
Not sure if the MN DNR has any good reports out yet or not? If you contact Ben's, I strongly suggest calling during the day, to hopefully talk to an adult. The kids that work there sometimes know things, sometimes don't. The Battle Lake Inn should know something........you might find something out hanging around the Shoreline Cafe as well.
Broken rod, you've been extremely helpful! I appreciate it ππ½, and you're right. I called earlier and I could tell he was a bit younger and knew a little something but not much lol
No surprise there! Any luck today?
Not there yet. We drive up from Omaha Tuesday and hit the water Wednesday. I'll keep you posted!
Cool! Just met a guy from Nebraska, today, that's been slaying catfish on the Mississippi. Got a 38 pounder!
Okay, good luck!
