Hi;
I am new on the forum, and live 12 minutes from Coon Rapids Dam (on CR side).
Would love to hear about spring fishing from the bank, where and what to fish for. I am truly a novice, but would love to catch a few!
I am very interested in crappie activity out there.

Thanks in advance,
Ted

Are there walleye at the CR Dam? They're biting on the Mississippi River right now, and have a tendency to bite in the rivers, early in the spring..........

Tedtell, I lived in the CR area for 2 years. I guide the lakes in the area. The river will have some crappies but they will be in the very slow current areas. Low light had normally been the better times. As Brokenrod said there are walleyes in this area also. 1/8 or 1/4 oz jig/minnow is your best bet for the river. A 1/16 will work for Crappies. I have even used a float on the line to keep jig out of the rocks on the bottom. You want your jig to just pass over the rocks. I would start with a 5 to 6 ft spread jig to float, the cigar type floats work will.
