Back when we were kids. It would cost less than $15 ,000.00 for those 3.. Depending on where you lived, maybe closer to $10,000.00.

My first house cost 22k.

As a kid in the 50's in our small town the jail birds were out picking up garbage early in the mornings....you don't see that any more.

They do that in California, picking up trash along the freeway, the sheriff department is there.
Probably people with just minor offenses.

Definitely from a time gone by.
Now a days they probly wouldn't let you within 100 yards of them.
Maybe for good reason too.
People just seemed to have more of a sense of decency back then.
None of those guys probly even thought of harming you back then.
Not so sure that would be the case today.

Funny how we remember things from the past. I heard that as we get older we remember things from the past.
I remember one of the prisoners saying no one lays a hand on him.

Funny story.
When I was little probably in first grade or so I would spend the summer in the back country of San Diego with my aunt, uncle and grandmother.
My uncle was a carpenter at a ranch there and we lived in one of the houses that the ranch provided there. The houses were scattered around the ranch so we had no neighbors.
One day there were a bunch of prisoners clearing rocks from a field by our house with the guards watching them. They were hauling the rocks away in wheelbarrows.
I took my toy wheelbarrow and went to help. They would put a small rock in it and I would haul it away.
At lunch time I sat with them and the guards gave me lunch with them.
Still remember that.
