I would hazard a guess that the lack of live bait is the least of everyone’s problems right now. Just sayin.

Seems like these poachers got off cheap if you ask me. $1100 fine is peanuts for these guys, I’ll wager. As for having licenses revoked, so what? Most poachers fish without a license anyway.

While I’m at it, what about large corporations that pollute our rivers, streams, lakes, oceans? How often do you see them get fined or see executives go to jail? BP got off cheap after the oil rig blow up in the Gulf. Did you see any CEOs get frog-walked into court? They even got to declare the cost of the clean up as a business expense.

I have never understood logic of fishing tournaments. Sport fishing was originally a contemplative pastime. Now it’s high stakes, high dollar, dog eat dog and devil take the hindmost. Isaac Walton must be doing backflips in his grave.

I wonder if the tribe will let you use the cable cart ties for access. The gentlemen who used to operate the station were very liberal about that.

Great catch! Glad it went to good cause. By the way, is that a classic Garcia Mitchell 300 reel I see in the low right? Wish I still had mine.

I’ve never tried to fish the Gila River below San Carlos Reservior but it might be worth a try for carp or catfish. At some point below Kearney the stream flow is diverted. By the time the Gila River reaches I 10 it is bone dry.
In the 19th century the Gila River was rich with wildlife. Quail, waterfowl, beaver, and native fish were bountiful. Mule deer and bighorn roamed the adjacent mountains and utilized the river as a vital water source. Then “civilization” came along and the river was diverted and pumped dry in the name of progress.

We had a roof leak and partial ceiling collapse in one room. No where near the damage and destruction sustained by our fellow citizens along the Gulf Coast. Rebuilding will take years. Some areas will never be the same.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Seems like these severe hurricanes are more frequent and cause more damage. I would like to see the data on this subject. The folks on Puerto Rico are still suffering from the effects of a hurricane Maria five years ago.

Check out Rigs fly shop in Ridgeway, CO; stop by, ask for advice, buy some stuff.

Apparently CO parks & wildlife is trying to reduce the population of illegally stocked smallmouth bass in Ridgeway Reservior. One angler caught over 3000 smallmouth of the course of a months long CPW contest.

I remember what the area was like before they built the dam. My opinion is best kept to myself at this point.

Anyway you can fish for trout and bass in the area. Good luck, tight lines, and all that jive.

Dipping is difficult to give up and not always harmful. I don’t mean judge anyone. Just wanted to provide my personal experience.

Very true. A wise man once said: we treat ocean like a toilet and we expect it to feed us...

I used to dip until my dentist noticed some lesions on the inside of my lip. I decided that, although I lack movie star looks, lacking lower lip would not be an improvement. That’s when I quit cold turkey. Some folks can dip all their lives with no problem. I don’t happen to be on that end of the bell curve.

Here’s a couple of pictures of what I call a wacky rig. No weight with 1/0 hook through the middle. I attach a swivel above the hook to reduce line twist. The worm is a Yamamoto 5 inch, pumpkin magic color (I think).
