Love to fish just haven't here in Arizona. Grandson is eager to get out! Any favorite spots near Casa Grande would be appreciated.

Can't help but welcome aboard.
I’ve never tried to fish the Gila River below San Carlos Reservior but it might be worth a try for carp or catfish. At some point below Kearney the stream flow is diverted. By the time the Gila River reaches I 10 it is bone dry.
In the 19th century the Gila River was rich with wildlife. Quail, waterfowl, beaver, and native fish were bountiful. Mule deer and bighorn roamed the adjacent mountains and utilized the river as a vital water source. Then “civilization” came along and the river was diverted and pumped dry in the name of progress.

Saguaro lake and the salt river are an 1and half drive north. There several spots on the salt river for bank fishing. Look for Granite reef, Phon Sutton and Blue Point bridge. Phon Sutton is a short hike but enjoyable. Lots of choices south of you also.
