POST HURRICANE IAN
Florida Fishing
Oct 11, 2022 13:30:45   #
Norman Havens Loc: Port Charlotte Florida

Good afternoon fishing stagers
After riding out IAN in my closet and cleaning up 13 days I'm ready to go fishing.
Are there Any fisherman that have gone out in the Punta Gorda/ Port Charlotte area
Down to Cape Haze.
And does anyone have live shrimp.
All the bait shops near me we're destroyed.

I would hazard a guess that the lack of live bait is the least of everyone’s problems right now. Just sayin.

My wife and I very fortunate only minor damage to our home.
Mostly outside..
We're all in hold waiting for the insurance company.
Many of my close friends home's are devastated.
I've helped someone every day until we got power. And will continue to assist anyone.
I'm not a heartless troll.
But a little normalcy helps take the edge off.
Any one out there that has been affected by IAN in my area let me know if you need help and if I have the means I will help.
Contact me here.
I don't like McDonald's but when they gave out food the cheese burger tasted like cardboard but felt so good.

You're a good man Norman for helping others out. Wish I could get you some live shrimp but I'm to far away. Good luck on you fishing.

Norman I didn't lose everything when Agnes ran over me in 72 but we lost alot. I soon learned watching it on TV n saying I can imagine what it's like is a falsehood. Till you've lived it you can't imagine it. Report said river would crest at midnight. Closer to 12 noon. Twelve hours nobody was Prepared for. No way to stop the water much less the wind. Personally I think you've earned the right to unwind a bit. Go escape for awhile brother 👍🎣

Thank you Super Sport for the kind thoughts and words.
This is a Old school tip my neighbor taught me for live shrimp.
I use my igloo lunchbox for this.
Put a layer of ice in the lunchbox next put at least 3 pages/layers of newspaper get the paper wet at the bait shop.
Have the shrimp placed on the wet paper.
I've had them last 30 hrs.
They can't get in fresh water they die.
I don't put shrimp in my bait tank anymore
They are much easier to handle when they're cold and dormant.

I can get it in Venice or Sarasota.
It's a 35 minute drive.
Save the money and the fuel.
But your offer is very kind and truly appreciated thank you Super Sport.
