how true and funny. (but don't tell any one but I love it up here and wouldn't want to live anywhere else and the kids and grandkids are just the icing on the cake) but everyone else hear loud and clear what this wise man just said rain and snow and non of us would ever want to live here besides there are those volcanoes, earthquakes and tidal waves that will do you in so best to stay away far away

I agree with DC,too much rain and snow ,volcanoes etc, terrible fishing conditions, just terrible, you don't want to come to Washington to fish, just terrible.

Hello, my name is David and I'm from Seattle. My son and I are new to fishing this year and we have been to almost every lake in the county. I'm sure everyone here has their secret holes, and I'm not looking for them. I'm here to find out the bait and lure side of fishing in Washington. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We don't have a boat ,so all our fishing is done from the bank. Thanks for your time.

Yes,what they said, worms, eggs, powerbait,if you get the chance to troll in a boat, popgear and wedding ring spinner and worms work very well

Have you all been getting a lot of emails about a delivery waiting for your response to verify address?

Every outfit you can name has sent me a notice that no one is home when they attempted a delivery.

Imagine that, I sit here over looking the street to the house and they must have those new driverless invisible vehicles.

What's the latest Scam you all are experiencing?

How about my local court has ruled a settlement in my favor,I've gotten about a dozen in the last few weeks ranging from 12,000-32,000$

well that study would explain why there are no fishermen over the age of 50 they have all died out from the effect of eating the fish they caught....ok I know there are many on this site alone who are fishermen and claim to be in their 70's 80's and some even 90+ but can you believe them? after all they claim to be fishermen and fishermen are known to stretch the truth they must really be in their 30's and just look old because they have been eating fish

The study was probably done in California were everything causes cancer

I bought a new Pflueger President at the BAss Pro black friday sale in MObile Alabama. First time out I lost the handle in the water (must have worked loose riding in the Kayak for 1500 miles from Kansas to south Florida).

Does anyone know where I can get parts for a reel this new?

Been a lot of opinions good and bad out here,I just bought two reels,a 30 and a 40 size, very smoot operating reels, just a suggestion that may save time, parts and some frustration, if you grab the spool/bail and give the handle a good snugging, they might just stay on better, kinda like torquing lug nuts eh.

After responding to another post, I got to wondering how much fish most people se aside for a meal. I pack fish in 1.5 pound bags of boneless fillets for two people. I am a heavy fish eater. My wife is a light fish eater. Given a fillet size perch or crappie I usually eat 6 fillets and my wife eats two. When traveling with my normal fishing partner, We normally target 8 fish. That allows 6 fillets each for dinner and two each for sandwiches the next day on the boat.

I am curious how much others eat (Catch and release excluded).

So far it seems most replies are about pan fish.as I'm mostly a salmon fisherman my filet of choice is salmon and it really depends on the size of the salmon.a smaller salmon say 5-6 ,lbs,I will eat one filet to myself, about 1-1/2 lb,now a bigger fish obviously means bigger filet,a 10+ lb,er will bring out the glutton in me and 2+ lbs on my plate is common, preferably from the tail(no bones)

Very true, another advantage to multi pc waders is I've used an old pair of sneakers instead of the heavy boots in summer time, mostly depends on type of bottom your walking on,sneakers work great when the bottom is small pebbles or sand.

Should be,can't account for numbers but further up north people have been catching in the Skykomish river above Goldbar by Stevens Pass.

I'm looking at purchasing a set of Patagonia waders for general fishing in the Pacific Northwest.

I would appreciate hearing reviews and thoughts on wader usage.

My Reasoning:
- I mostly river fish from the bank
- I wear size 15 shoes. Patagonia and Simms both offer customized booties *at a notable upcharge :(
- I have $300 in Patagonia gift cards
- I've used Patagonia for all my climbing and backpacking adventures and absolutely love the brand.

But I'm new to fishing. What do y'all say?

*The other brand I'm looking at is Simms G3.
**Frogtogg is theoretically putting out a cheap pair of size 15 waders, but who knows when that'll happen.

I've gotten 3 pairs of waders,The Simms and Cabelas brands the boots were seperate so easier to get sizes that fit better plus you can choose boots with hard soles or felt, buying a set of waders with attached boots will probably be more difficult considering a size 15 shoe. The set I got with attached boots weren't as good as the others and gave up alot in traction as the boots were very slippery on rocky bottom rivers. When I decide to get new ones again I plan on getting a pair of neoprene for winter and lightweight fabric for summer and already have both felt sole and hard sole boots which still work fine.

Thanks everyone for the update on the Nooksack River. That's a disappointment. We just bought all sorts of tackle to start targeting steelhead.

Anyone have advise on best areas to target steelhead on the Skagit?

Why limit yourself, there are alot of rivers in Skagit and Snohomish counties and most of them get steelhead running up em,just depends on how far your willing to drive,my suggestion would be to get the Washington regs book as well as download Fish Washington App.Start with the book to check normal river openings and follow up with the app for more up to date info due to unannounced sudden closures. There might even be a few out here on the stage that might direct you to some good spots but understand us locals are scattered around the state and might not have info for your area.If your willing to explore just drive around the roads along the rivers in your area and you'll see spots that might hold fish or find out where steelhead hatcheries are and narrow your search that way
