Hey Birdog, welcome to the stage.
The best LM fishing is Douglas lake for numbers and good size. Cherokee lake is also good, maybe a better average size and good SM too. South Houston is known for its SM too. Boone Lake should have a boom after re-filling after years at river pool. Wataga is known to produce giant walleyes and lake trout. Good fishing almost anywhere in north east Tennessee

A lot of crappie, saueye, and stripe (white bass) being caught up in the head waters and river on Cherokee now. Crappie are on the creek and river channel above the quaryville ramp near Rogersville, try Tom’s marina for a guide.

I had the propane model and loved it. Was able to do 6 12lb turkeys at one time. Lots of ribs and brisket.

It will be near full if normal. The river will be great this time of year. Be careful and have fun

Harold10, I’d start near the back of any of the creeks or coves, the water will be rising and warming and the fish will come up with it. There’s not much cover but lots of structure to try. Spinnerbaits, rattle traps, Texas rigs produce this time of year.

Hey Phil, don’t know where in East Tennessee but youre near great fishing. Great smallmouth in South Houston lake giant trout below the dam. Douglas and Cherokee have great bass, crappie walleye, white bass in the spring, Norris has it all. Fort loudoun, watts bar, tellico and Melton hill are all great. Best of luck young man

Man, you’re in the right place, they will eat up a spinnerbait and a worm. You must deal with the draw down. Douglas level is at winter pool now, apps 20 ft below full pool. Should start raising soon to reach full pool by Memorial Day. So when you’re out in your boat take a good look at the banks, that’s what you will be fishing next week. I like a chartreuse and white willow leaf bait. Good luck

Hey Gene, look up Lake Monticello in Palmyra Va. about an hour south of you. Give them a call 434-589-1692 and see if they will let you in. Has bluegill, lm bass and catfish. Also a smaller fishing pond too.

I live in Rogersville at the tail waters of Cherokee but I’ve fished Douglas for 30 years.

Another easy place to get to is the hiway 92 bridge in Dandridge. The public ramp on the south end of the bridge has several places to fish as well as the bridge itself. Some of the best spring fishing is in the river near white pine off hiway 25E south of I-81 exit 8.

Hi ghaynes, the level is down around 40 ft from summer pool. That means there is a lot of “bank” to fish from. Easy places are camp grounds and bridges. If you travel I40 and exit on either side of Douglas to hiway 25 you can find parking on either end of the bridge and fish there or near fanchers or swans’s dock. Any of those guys are glad to help you out. Brink a good size bucket. It will fill quickly.
