I tried using green light and didn't work for me.

If the water isn't perfectly clear, then the light fades quickly. In my conditions, I got maybe a radius of 15ft. And maybe 30ft out the light wasn't even visible at all.

I initially expected the light to be visible from far away and attract fish from all over to get to my spot. But in practice it didn't work out that way.

So I returned the light.

Others might have different experience, but the light just didn't do what I expected to do for me.

I have 2 of the hydro-glo lights...I have found at Lake Powell in Utah,Super clear water they work great.Put them in and within 30 mins there are literally thousands of shad circleing the light, then the stripers show up and its game on....Ive tried it in lakes that werent so clear, and it seems the bait cant find the light in the dirty water, no bait,no game fish!

not sure the difference between salt and fresh water stripper...I do know they are very good eating, as long as you cut the red bloodline from the fillet before you cook them, very tasty

Never Had a chance to use it in the salt, only fresh water, but seen videos of it used in salt and worked,if you can get it in the water where there is plenty of shad, minnows or what ever baitfishish the body of water your in holds depending, they will be drawn to the light and before long thousands will be doing circles around the light. after while the game fish will be busting through the bait for an easy meal, and very easy eat your bait with a hook in it... As I said, you must be in the near vecintity of the bait fish. if no bait fish after 45 min .try and move and locate some a different area, until you find the bait... Then the fun starts. check you regs though.Im not sure if its leagal in all states.Tx,Okla,Utah-Lake powell is where it works amaizing well.

I think the light will work anywhere,, You just have to have some shad or some type of bait fish in the area, it will draw them in like a magnet..Sometimes it takes a little while for them to find and come to the light.Once they start coming to it, with in and hour or two there will usually there by the thousands just swimming in a huge circle around it....You know they saying,if the bait is there, the bigger gamefish will be there not long after! Its pretty cool to watch, thousands of shad swimming in a perfect circle, then you'll usually see big silver flashes as the bigger targeted fish shooting through the bait fish for an easy meal. I usually drop a bait just outside the light at the same depth as the bait fish and hang on tight..,you get very violent strikes that will take your rod from your hand if your not careful

The thing on the other side or the reel? Could it be just a cover that you swap to the other side if you move your handle to that side? Most spincast reals allow you the swap handle from one side to the other. Just a guess,I dunno really
