Years ago was living in Greeley, Colo and someone found a gator in a small pond near Ft Collins. But it was a pretty good size one. They figured someone turned a pet lose!

Just in case I fish for walleye I have a bunch of hooks tied up with leader. then round pipe insulation and shallow slits around it/ stick the hook into the insulation next to a slit and wrap the leader around the slit.

Fishing with spinning reels I use left hand reels and no need to change hands after casting, With casting reels, when I started all I could get was right hand reels so had to learn to cast and change hands holding the rod. Tried a left hand reel and just doesn't feel right with a casting rod! Really don't make any difference which hand you reel with. Your comfortable with it, your comfortable!

I have never used a weight with a bobber. Normally I use a Carolina rig when I use a weight and keep the hook on about 12" leader tied to a swivel and weight above the swivel. With a bobber I do about the same thing but use a slip bobber where I would put the weight on a Carolina rig. Real easy to adjust depth that way.

Like bait casting, mostly round reels and for spinning about all I'll use is Ultra Light. Just like heavier rod and reel for bigger fish but, got a couple low profile casting reels set up on light rods with 4# line to use on bull heads, crappie and small mouth bass.

With spinning reels I use left hand reels and casting I use right hand reels. Right hand dominate. Have one left hand casting reel and tried it once. Never tried it again, just didn't feel right!

I've never tried gizzards. Anymore My favorite bait is chicken breast mixed with strawberry jello and garlic powder. I have caught a lot of bull heads in lakes but never have caught any other kind of catfish in a lake. Know a lot of people seem to though.

I would think it could cause some trouble. But if you set the drag for the line that is recommended, I'd think you'd be fine. I put 20# braid on a couple rods that are not recommended for that heavy line but I also use leader that is much lighter. 10# leader and try to set the drag well under 10#. I did not go to braid for the strength but rather for finer line and limper line. By using lighter leader I don't over max the drag on the reel,,, I think!

Funny you should mention that. Hunting in Germany when a deer is killed it get the last meal. They don't watch the death throes but when it's done before starting to field dress it they put a hand full of grass in it's mouth. Maybe the thing to do with fish is before you filet them stuff a worm in their mouth! :-)
