To Web Master, I know this is not Tomales Bay related but thought is might be of interest to all fishermen. Delete if you don’t think it appropriate…

Study May Turn You Off Fish Caught in US Lakes, Rivers.
Eating one freshwater fish is like drinking contaminated water for a month, study says

'Astounding' Levels of 'Forever Chemicals' Found in US Fish
Anglers in American lakes and rivers should think about throwing their catches back, researchers say.
Scientists seeking to limit human exposure to "forever chemicals"—which don't break down easily in the environment—have found alarming levels of contamination in fish caught in America's lakes and rivers. According to a study published in the journal Environmental Research, eating a single freshwater fish brings as much exposure to the toxic chemicals as drinking contaminated water for a month. The researchers examined 500 samples of fish collected under an EPA monitoring system between 2013 and 2015 and found that only one did not contain PFOS, short for perfluorooctane sulfonic acid; it's a toxin linked to health issues including cancer, liver damage, and immune system problems that was phased out of production here about 20 years ago.

“The levels of PFOS found in freshwater fish often exceeded an astounding 8,000 parts per trillion," compared to the 70 parts per trillion the EPA currently allows in drinking water, study coauthor David Andrews tells CNN. "You’d have to drink an incredible amount of water—we estimate a month of contaminated water—to get the same exposure as you would from a single serving of freshwater fish." He says anglers should strongly consider throwing their catches back instead of bringing them home for dinner. Last year, the EPA said the permitted level of PFOS in drinking water should be lowered to 0.02 parts per trillion. PFOS are part of a group of compounds calls PFAS introduced in the 1940s and used in products including nonstick coatings and firefighting foam.

The chemicals were found in fish across the US, including areas far from cities and factories. PFOS levels were highest in the Great Lakes. The Environmental Working Group, which led the research, has an interactive map of where the contaminated fish were caught. Andrews tells AFP that he grew up catching and eating fish, but he can "no longer look at a fish without thinking about PFAS contamination." The findings, he says, are "particularly concerning due to the impact on disadvantaged communities that consume fish as a source protein or for social or cultural reasons."

Howdy, Got a question or two:
1) Where did you find the action?
2) Bait or trolling?
3) Incoming or outgoing?
4) Where did you launch the boat?
A few years ago I tried to launch an aluminum boat at the Vallijo public boat ramp and the the was so bad had to raise motor and row back to the dock, so was wondering if they dredged the boat ramp area.
Thanks for info....

For one or maybe two fish I use the old manual filet knife. If I have a bunch of fish (or large fish) I use the the electric then finish up with the manual knife to get the last bit of meat of the bones,
As for sharpening, about 5 years ago I was having trouble keeping my knives sharp, stopped by a local commercial knife store and talked with the tech. He suggested the: "LANSKY FOUR ROD KNIFE SHARPENER", (UPC 080999081006) about $20.
Best knife sharpener I have ever used, and really simple to use...I threw all my other sharpeners away.
That's my 2 cents worth.....

I mounted my Garmin transducer to the inside my 20' SeaRay Sevell. Works great! Just make sure there are no bubbles in your epoxy. Good Luck. Also, had to turn the sensitivity up a notch or two to get readings on real small bait fish.

Thanks much! Hope to connect with interesting people who will teach me some things!

1) Fish is cheaper in the meat/fish store. HaHa
2) Catching your own fish is WAY more fun, even if you lose one now and then.
3) Don't let the guys push you to the side. Jump right up there and give it your best shot. You learn from your mistakes.
4) Buy an electric filleting knife and practice on some cheap fish at the market or that you catch.
5) When going out in rough water, don't forget your Dramamine pills, HaHa
Last but not least----HAVE FUN !!

I fish out of Bodega Bay CA. I have found the NOAA Weather reports to be about 50%-75% accurate out about 5 days, after that not so much. The rain you can deal with, but the 20-30 MPH winds could be a rough ride unless you got a big boat. Your friend is in the Coast Guard, so he shouldn't get sea sick, HaHa...I agree with everyone else, go with plan "A", but have a plan "B" ready just in case..Have fun!

Anyone fished at millerton lake recently?

I camped and fished Millerton last year for eight days, drooling every day from one end of the lake to the other for stripers, never caught a thing! Tried every lure I had in my box, but not a hit. I did find hundreds of large carp back in the shallow water slews though. The locals were using boats with a bow platform where a dude with a bow and arrow would shot the carp (The arrows had a string attached for pulling them back to the boat). I have never eaten a carp, so I didn't even try fishing for them. I was a fun adventure though, since I drove 250 miles to get to get there. The Rangers are real weirdo's, spotted them and some local law enforcement officers marching in lock-step around the camp ground. WEIRD!
