What's better for casting on a surf spinning reel combo, braided line or mono line?
Thanks

I use braided on a 12ft surf rod and don’t have any problem but again this is preference of choice it is whatever you feel comfortable with

Ditto braided. When I switched to braid, it is so sensitive, I was seting the hook on sand ripples. Takes some getting used to. I use 20# power pro. Casting distance improved also.

Agree with all the guys above regarding braid. Have two 9' and one 12', all with 50# PowerPro. Here in the mid Atlantic beaches, the conditions can get really nasty and the 40# mono I used to have spooled on was so stretchy that I often was surprised I had a fish on after reeling in, not to mention more difficult to get a hook set. Also can spool on more line with braid vs. mono--comes in handy for those extra long casts.

For all those reasons. Braid is way better imo.

Braid for me as well, just be sure to hose it down each day after fishing if doing salt water fishing.

Yes! both the reel AND the rod, especially the reel seat and the guides. Doesn't matter if both are salt water rated. Don't wait until the ocean water dries. Harder to wash off and any sand that might've blown in will do more damage than you can imagine! Then dry off with a clean towel, all before driving off, if possible.

Food I'm with you on power pro. Been using it since late 80's. Did get some suffix braid. Have a good day brother πŸ‘πŸ‘

I use braid on all my spinning surf rods, 65# on the heavers and 30 on the plugging rods. I do however like poly fir my bait casters. The braid has so little stretch that I have snapped off 6 Oz sinkers on 65 # braid with the slightest tic of a backlash. Using 20# tritanium saves me about 10 pounds of lead a year.

I walked away from mono while surf fishing years ago. More line on the spool, less abrasion from the sand and braid is less sensitive to sunlight. Using braid also seems to make detecting bites easier. I use 20 lb.
