Thanks. I’m working in Fresno and am missing all of the fishing I had up in No. cal all last year.
Last time I fished Kings Cyn. Was with my grand father. It must have been it it’s early 70s.
It’s in the western Sierras central Calif.
where do you live it Texas. I live in the hill country
Thinking about going up to Kings Canyon tomorrow.
Where should I try I haven’t fish Kings Canyon in 40 years
Anyone out there got an old Fishcat Cougar that wants to sell a pontoon.
Went to load it up last Saturday night for a Sunday float on the Yuba river and found the thermal weld all blown out.
It’s only 16 or so years old.
Reached out to Fishcat and they haven’t responded to my email
But it is fun to tie a streamer or a stone fly on a #4 or 6. After tying 16 to 20 my eyes hurt
Tripped on a factory demo Winston 4w dry fly rod. Had to get a matching galvin nickel real, backing, rio fly line and a few other things.
Irons are great out of San Diego. Maybe even a little farther south.
Fish Lake Cachuma, lake Piru, Pyramid Lake (good Striper), Castaic Lake (although I’ve never done well there)
Fish the Balboa bay for bay or calaico bass.
Don’t even get me started on the eastern sierras or the Kern wild life refuge.
Great places in so cal.
I’ve been working in this state for most of the last 20 years. Even when I was in Palm Springs I found places to fish on my days off.
I fish every weekend up in Nor Cal.
But I’m from Texas
What the hell is a “wacky rig”
Sorry I’m a trout guy. When I catch bass I’m pissed. It means I did something wrong with my fly presentation. Lol
If you look at the box on Rio lines it says how much over it is.
Like you said dawg it starts at a 1/2 w over some go up 1 1/2.
Back in the day, we would oversize our line X1 for casting.
Most new lines are oversized now. Even though it says 3wt 20 years ago it would have been a 4wt.
