Any knot reduces strength by 25% according to experts. For the best fishing knots look for those with no hard pinch points and those that distributes the stress caused by the knot as even as possible. Personally I tie the San Diego Jam and wet it before cinching it down to prevent any unnecessary burning or friction to the line.
Palomar is 100% line strength easiest to tie.
Very interesting chart Glenn thanks for sharing. I’m not to proud to admit there’s a bunch there I’ve never heard of.
This chart with all those knots make me look dumb too as a lot of these knots are new to me also.
There's also a lot missing Albright, FG, Blood, plain clinch, etc.....
Looks like most of those are 100% or better, so pick one you're comfortable with.

The problem with the clinch or fisherman's knot is that it slips. The improved clinch helps but I've been using another option for 60+ years. Tie and overhand know in the end of the line. Tie a regular clinch knot and pull it up to tight up against the overhand knot. It prevents slipping and is easy to tie. The improved clinch is 80%+ so I would think that this knot is more. Maybe over 90%?
Now they need to add the links for how to tie all of them.
They did. My eyes were faster than my fingers for the hot links.
Seems there are a lot of what has been said to be the best knots?
if anyone here has a boy or eagle scout in their family, maybe they can get a few pointers that way.

I didn't say that right. Seems there are a lot of knots we have discussed that are NOT on the list?
70 years old with matching eyes and arthritic hands. When I'm on a stream and nymphing with a size 24 midge, I tie what I can and pray.
