If you’re looking for big flatheads, try the James River just below Richmond for 40 plus pounders.
Don’t know about blues.

If your yak arrives with some minor cuts and gouges, you can refuse acceptance but then have to wait months for a replacement. I drove seven hours to pick up my yak from the dealer. Freight companies have different reputations and you can pay different amounts for the same transit.

If I were you, I'd bide my time and try to find one closer to home, even if i had to
get one of slightly lesser quality or features. Patience is a grate asset when buying things.

This fishing stuff is hard, I barely catch nothing. Luckily I enjoy being out by the water so it doesnt ruin the trip but i really dont barely ever catch a decent size fish.

Will that change if I keep at it for 10 years or is that just how fishing from land is?

Yes, you will bet better, but lower your expectations. You'll still have bad days, weeks and even years. That's why is's called fishing and not catching. Forget about catching fish. Enjoy the fresh air, peace and quiet and use the time to just "recharge your batteries".

I have like 4 or 5 rolls of braid with about maybe 30 yards left after spooling up, I guess I could have forced it all on the reel but don't like doing that especially with spinning reels. What do you guys do with any extra braided line you have? Fluorocarbon and mono obviously can be leader material but 8ve never had much luck splicing on that small of an amount of braid back onto my spool. I will do it with like 50+ yards but I hate having any extra connection points on my line other than the leader.

All the comments are good. I also use it on cane poles, wrapping new eyes onto other poles
when one gets broken, and tying up the Christmas tree when it starts leaning. There's
always a reason to keep some of it. You never know what will happen.

It's a Wiper. Strippers never have broken lines and it's way too fat to be a White Bass.

I want to thank each and everyone of you that responded to my query, there were very many good answers. I'm sure I was just trying to delude myself into thinking I'm in better shape than I really am. I do suffer from severe cramping of my legs, plus serious heart problems and back problems and sitting in close quarters I think is not the way to go. I'm sorry I might have wasted your precious time away from the water ways guys, I guess it was just my mind thinking I'm younger that I really am. Keep a tight line fellows!

Fing a younger, avid fisherman with a pontoon boat. My father-in-law was 90 and we used a pontoon. Thatn way he could stand up, stretch, pee in a coffee can etc. worked great.

I've grown to love flathead catfishing. Due to loving the sight of my rod flexing when a flathead getting my bait tries to swim away with it on the line. But, I was wondering what other fishermen use for baits in Georgia other than Chicken livers, Shrimp...etc.?

Any bait will work. The bigger the better since their mouth is so big. I prefer live bait. Like
live shad, shinners, skipjack or bluegill. If they won't hit live fish, try cutting it into chinks - the head with the gills works great! Heck, the neighbors toy poodle will even work.

I use Chicken Liver for bait. yet, I hear of various other type of bait for Catfish but, I live in Ga. And I just wanted some honest opinions on the best type of bait for Catfishing in Ga.

The best bait for flatheads is live, or cut bait from the same water you're fishing. I fish the Ohio Rivew and try to use Skipjack - usually cut into chunks. If not available, I use Bluegill. The heads seem to work the best

Try out a Zebco. They're very close to the Johnson, work great, cheap and will last a long
time. I've used various Zebcos for decades and still use them for bluegills to large cats and strippers.
They're also available almost anywhere fishing gear is sold.

A 1/8 or 1/16 0z. jig head with a white or pearl colored tripletail or grub on beetlespin works great. If that doesn't work, try different colored tails.

You can use cut bail like bluegill, shiners, skipjack etc. I've caught blue cats over eighty pounds on chunks of shiner or skipjack. You can also use several smaller minnows on a single hook. Also, deep diving crankbaits or rubber worms rigged carolina style, or twister tails or whale tails on a heavy jig head. A large gob of worms or night crawlers also works great.
