I use about 4 inch shiners on a carolina rig and it'll catch blue cats in central VA year round. I've caught flatheads and channels on it too in warmer months. Hook the shiner behind the back fin so it stays alive with a few ft leader from the egg sinker/swivel so it swims just off the bottom. It's deadly.

Catch some bluegill or something while you’re out there. Wrap the guts around a hook or stab the chunks on there.

You can also use beef liver, just as good as chicken liver.

I have the best luck with nightcrawlers.

+1 for chicken livers.
So cheap that if you don’t use the whole tub, chuck it into the water as a chum. Next time go fish the same spot. Rinse and repeat for good results.

Hoss: catfish will eat almost anything as you may have noticed having rejected stink bait yourself! My recommendation is live perch about the size of a man’s hand if you want to catch big ones...Jist sayin...RJS
I use fresh cut bait, soaked in the fishes own blood.

I can't help you. All I use is Sonny's Stink Bait. Don't smell bad to me. Must just be use to it now.
I mostly use 1/2 a night crawler threaded up on to the line, and a peeled fresh shrimp. Or small chunk of carp meat. And I mostly use a bobber set to the depth of the water. We can have two poles and I love watching those bobbers.
Nightcrawlers, raw shrimp, live or dead minnows, chicken, fresh cut-bait from panfish or carp....just to name a few. I haven't had much luck with stink bait. I mainly fish for Channel Catfish.
