Is it actually possible to get good enough at this that you can catch decent fish every time you go out while fishing from the land?

This fishing stuff is hard, I barely catch nothing. Luckily I enjoy being out by the water so it doesnt ruin the trip but i really dont barely ever catch a decent size fish.

Will that change if I keep at it for 10 years or is that just how fishing from land is?

It depends on your target fish, trout, yes, grouper, maybe not.

Fishing is just like real-estate, location location location. Then when you think you have it figured out you got to move. Keep trying austin, and move to another spot.

Think like a fish. If it is sunny and hot, try fishing in the shade or in deeper water. They like to be comfortable, too. If it is cool and sunny, fish shallow as they may be trying to get warm. If there are predators, try fishing near cover. Vary your depth and presentation and you’ll figure it out. As soon as they call it catching, we’ll let you know 😂
Good luck!

It’ll change. You won’t always catch fish but will more often when you understand and think like the fish

To answer. your question as posed - NO. You will never be that good. No one is. If you judge the success of a fishing trip by the size or number of fish, you're going to have a lot of unsuccessful trips. Everyone - EVERYONE - gets skunked. Even Saw1. Even the guys and gals who do it for a living and HAVE to catch big fish. You'll get better. But you'll never get that good.

Yes, you will bet better, but lower your expectations. You'll still have bad days, weeks and even years. That's why is's called fishing and not catching. Forget about catching fish. Enjoy the fresh air, peace and quiet and use the time to just "recharge your batteries".

Any fishermen that tells you that they kill it every time they go out, is a liar. There are certain tricks to learn about fishing from land. First of all if the water isn't very deep don't stand right up against the shoreline they can see you. One of the biggest common mistakes people make when fishing from shore is trying to cast out as far as they can. Pay attention to the people in the boats you will notice more often than not they are casting towards the shallow water where you are standing, don't cast out too far try the shallows first.

I’ve been a very enthusiastic fisherman for 50 years now , fished bass tournament trail for a short time and have since branched out to multi species.
I consider myself pretty accomplished and have high quality gear to pursue species ranging from Bluegill to musky

Yet, I still occasionally have tough days.
Most of the time I can find em , but not always.
Got skunked last weekend as a matter of fact. That don’t happen often , but it does happen.

Fishing is fun, catching is a bonus.

Went out fishing today from shore the weather lately has been terrible meaning the temps have been +- 30' rain the sunny days you see the fish but that's it they won't even take live bait( to much on their mind if you know what I mean well I watched three 20+ inch males fighting for turf first I ever witnessed that. And even getting skunked I had one of the best days Fishing is about paying attention to what the fish are up to and trying to deal with that day when you have the biggest fish on the end of the line and remembering you did the home work to get ya there.hang
