I guess the next best thing I’ve seen is an Owl scooping up a rabbit after a short chase. I was in my ground stand Deer hunting and the Owl landed on top of it, right next to me. Scared the crap outta me. Those wings are huge. Then it took off and nailed that cottontail. The rabbit screamed like a banshee.

Owls can be fascinating and scary at the same time. When I was younger, I was driving my '62 bug at dusk, when my windshield shattered. When I stopped and cleared the glass out of my face, I realized there was a huge owl on my hood. It was staring at me as if to say "you're not a mouse". It shook it's whole body, spread it's wings, and took off. When it spread it's wings, the span was wider than my car.

Today’s who knows was sent to me by Gordon.

It's called a bait spring. It keeps the tension off the hook, when you rig it through the mouth, so the bait stays in place and in one piece.

It's a fishing license, not a catching license. If you put a hook in the water you need a license. Exceptions are private owned lakes or on the day that the state let's you fish without a license. There is an amnesty day each year where you don't need a license.

You need a fishing license on private lakes also. Fish and Game frequents the private lakes around here. They check everyone with a line in the water.

Mine are a 23 ft. Pro Line CC and a 17 ft. Seafox CC. Had 135 hondas on the pro line but repowered in Nov. With 150 Yamahas.

Those are nice boats, but I can't get past the dog. She reminds me of a Blue Tic had had as a kid. Great dogs!

The site above has some pretty good info. You'll have to wait till the end of April, as the season is closed till then.

I have seen folks show me a picture of a “4 pounder”that looks a whole lot like a 2 1/2 pounder That I normally catch
Those fish must be incredibly dense.
Anyone experience this

My brother used to tell tales about the 4 and 5 pound smallmouth he catches. Until he caught a legit 5 pounder.
More like 2 1/2 - 3 pounders.

I threw away my last scale. It weighed a large mouth (that I estimated to be around 2 1/2 lb) at 4lb. Another that I thought to be close to 4 or even 5 lb, it weighed at under 2lb. But the final straw was when my son and I both caught 3 1/2 lbers that were clearly different mass. Mine was much bigger. :) I found that you had to set it back to zero every time you use it, so in the trash it went.

With the Quagga and Zebra mussel infestation, at least hear in Southern California, you need a different boat for every lake you go to. Most of the lakes require a 35 day quarantine before you can launch. If I had the space, I would have at least five boats. I say keep 'm.

"If I had the space", and the money.

I want to agree with whomever said Bomber. The old Bomber plugs had the large split lip and swam backwards.

I will second guess myself. The Bomber plug did not have the hook on the very end. The Whopper Stopper did. The one pictured has the strawberry spot paint.

I spent many summers in the 70's, 80's, 90' and 00's at Lake Powell. Caught countless stripers. I love that lake. How's the water level? It was 225 feet down the last time I was there.

Went out this evening for about 3 hours, only caught 2 but they were very nice, caught the first 10 minutes into fishing on a broke back rebel minnow, (5.8 lbs) silver in color; the second on a top work plug clear with black back and red around the head, (3.8 lbs). Not a bad few hours!!

Those are some healthy looking fish! Thanks for sharing the pics.

Looks like you made the best of it, congrats!

Yes we did. The campgrounds were all ours for 4 days, and the joy on my son's face, when he caught the 2 1/2 pounder made me forget about the boat.

Sometimes, when they do that they'll remove and relocate as many fish as they can. Since Castaic is so close by they may end up in there?

I'm hoping Lake Casitas will receive the majority of the water and fish. I don't know how the water is routed, but it is the last lake in the chain down here to get filled, and it needs it.

Welcome to the Forum, FatRap, Thank you for sharing. Are they going to drain the entire Lake?

Thank you. It is going to be, as they said, a mud hole.
