There are vary few places that still give you free replacement under warranty any longer. My first two U S came with LIFETIME WARRANTIES. I still use both. They were made different. Current U S have 7 year warranty. Still a good warranty. Bass Pro , where I don’t shop any longer will replace the rod at the store if you added their warranty to your rod for $29.99. In this area SWFL SUNSHINE ACE HARDWARE has a great fishing dept and if the manufactures allows will replace the rod in the store. They replaced. $250 Star Rod no questions ask. Angler error, broken on 12 foot Hammerhead while fishing alone. Ace is selling name brand quality lures, not knock off junk! Manufactures will replace tods under warranty but many need to be sent to them lLooked at a higher end group of kid rods this week $149/279 and all had one year warranty except STAR with limited Lifetime. U S. Jigging Rod , not as pretty, heavier, 7 years, bullet proof!

I bought my first Ugly Stick UL rod the year they came out. The commercial showed the wife putting it in the trash compactor to keep husband from fishing. He opens it, takes the rod out and goes fishing. I still have that rod and a dozen others I now use on saltwater. Have landed everything from snapper to 300+ sharks and one 500 + pound Goliath grouper with dozens smaller in the hundreds.

Don’t recommend engraving a rod blank. Thought if someone steals your gear it’s gone. Unless they are really really stupid.

Don’t mark with ID. But, did put a thin slice of orange tape around the blank. I fish with a lot of guys on different boats and we all have some of the same gear. Each bring three setups. It’s just easy to find mine in a bunch that all look or are the same.

You hit the nail on the head. Member of CCA here if FL. Belong to one of the largest fishing clubs around with almost 800 members. Less then 5% support CCA which is the only voice we have. They complain a lot but will not put up $35 to fund the sportsman’s voice. It’s all we have. HA, don’t get me started.
One days trip, shrimp $30, chum $32, frozen Squid $30, frozen cigar minnows $40, ice machine was $2300 installed, twin 300hp fuel $1000 plus, food, water, snacks, rods, reels, just lined up two new reels with500 yards of braid each. And I’m the only one of six on the boat supporting CCA. YET, everyone complains season close for sportfishing, open for commercial. Same here.

I commented earlier that saltwater fishing on the gulf seasons get closed durning spawning or as government believes the quota is caught for the year. Last year 2022 Red Grouper was closed all of DEC. So we left grouper gear home and went snapper fishing. We caught so many 30 plus inch Red Grouper in Dec it was unbelievable. We consider that a big RG as they need to be 20 sportfishing and 18 commercial. Not targeting them we released hundreds of RG and dozens of 30 plus fish. They forgot to tell the fish SEASON CLOSED.

It’s a personal choice. Always easy to pick the low hanging fruit. Many saltwater seasons are closed durning at breeding times. Everyone complains about it. Everyone also complains that fishing is not as good as it was 20 years ago. Same is said about many species in many lakes in many states.

Agree with FredFish…. He has hook rigging correct but incorrect about snags. If they would be rigged in reverse of what he says there would be a lot of missed fish. All my saltwater crank baits are rigged with this style single in line hook. Better for both you and the fish!!

No, threshers have the very extended tail upwards. Know all the sharks it was not but not sure what it was. About 280/300# hooked 80 feet deep on a snapper rod, 2 oz jig with a shrimp. Wrong fish on the wrong rod. Was close to just breaking it off after about an hour when it gave up before I did.

Have two of those hanging from the rafters in the basement. One in packaging. Don’t remember where I got them. They have hung from the rafters way longer than from the end of a rod.

Thinking way over priced but, whatever the market will bear. I have a dozen old Ambassadors some never used in the boxes. My problem was I worked at a tackle shop. Now I remember why I never brought a paycheck home from there. May have to cash in on my investments at these prices.

Color and profile says nurse shark to me. If so not a lot of fight. You pull up. It pulls down. Repeat. Big shark no matter what. 🤟
