Its a drainage lake to catch sediment from soil erosion. It also catches a lot of roadway run off from rain. Me personally, I wouldn't eat anything you catch there. I don't fish those kinds of lakes because I don't want the chemicals, pesticides, etc all over my tackle and me. Plus I fish with a Black Labrador and I don't want him in "Nasty" water.

Try Berry Springs Georgetown........ Its a beautiful Pecan orchard and natural Springs pond you can fish.

Hello Rachel,

Not a lot of "Great" fishing spots right here in RR, TX. I do know a couple of places that would be good for you to practice your skills such as casting, bait selection, etc.
For starters go to Veterans Park. The park runs alongside of Brushy creek. The creek has a dam and holds a really nice fishing pond. Warning, A lot fisherman have fished this area and the fish know it. LOL Go early, when its cool and first light.

You didn't mention "What" are fishing for, I presume its LM Bass. There are a lot of Catfish in this tank as well and the "catfishers" show up at dusk.

I know a few other areas you can try. IF your interested PM me.
I also know some great areas if your willing to travel up to 45 minutes and hike in.

Blue skies always.

Hmmm a 6 yr old carrying a gun and knife. Really? I'm a 60 yr old and I carry a 80lb Black Labrador Retriever. I say get the kids a black lab and that will be the end of anything attacking them. HooRah for the little fella. He's awesome, amazing. BLM Black Labs Matter.

I've had chigger bites all my life. In the late 1960's my dad was stationed in the Panama Canal zone. The kids and mother came to Georgia to see our kin and of course I fished the whole time there. I was covered in hundreds of chiggers. The next day I was back in Panama swimming in the ocean all day. That night most all of the hundreds of "red-bugs" aka chiggers, were dead! I again spent the next day on the beach and swimming in the ocean. By the end of the second day, all chiggers were dead, gone, no itching. It didn't take this 10yr old boy long to figure out why.
I have been covered in butter, painted from toes to nose in nail polish and treated with every drug for insect bites and itching OTC money can buy. Nothing worked 100%

So whats the answer to quickly killing chiggers and stopping the cycle of itch and scratch till you sting and bleed.....

Take a warm heavy salt water bath. Soak for about 20 minutes. Epsom salts works as well as table salts.
Oh, you could of course go to the beach and swim in the ocean for the day.

I'll leave you with this tidbit of knowledge. In Greece, in some dialects, August translate to Chigger, biting red bugs. August in the southern US is the peak of Chigger season.

Blue Skies Always,
Dave

I’ve been waiting and waiting to be able to get on Lake Houston to catch me some Crappie. I’m able now but the lake is polluted with PCB’s and other contaminants. I can still go fishing there but it’s not safe to eat the fish. Bummer! I’m going to check out another good fishing lake but it’s loaded with Alligators. Big Alligators. I don’t know how safe it would be to fish out of my Kayak. Here’s a picture of one. What do y’all think?
Hack 🇺🇸 🤔

Paint your Kayak like a BIGA$$ alligator.
