Hey friends! My name is Rachel and I’m from Texas! I haven’t been fishing for long, but I’ve been scouring the web for good spots to fish near me! It’s nice to meet y’all!
Hello Rachel: I am native as well. I assume you are seeking places to fish from the bank? My two daughters and their families live in Austin and Georgetown. My youngest, Melissa, is in the process of adoption of Jeremiah (7), whom you will see by looking for posts here about Jeremiah and Me fishing recently.
Since I am 85+ and a little over the hill and cannot walk very far or stand too long, it is a problem for me to do what I've done most of my life. I am looking for handy places to take Jeremiah, as well. Welcome to the Forum. If I find any place close to you, I will certainly share. Just Sayin...RJS

Hi Rachel, welcome! I share in the struggle to find bank fishing spots except I'm in Kansas. I lived in TX for 20 yrs and always fished big lakes and hired guides.

Welcome to the stage Rachel. Can't help you with your quest for a easily accessible pond, but I wish you well. Please favor us with some photos when you do find a spot and catch some fishes.

Welcome to the forum Rachel. I'm from Missouri and I've never lived in Texas but I might be able to help.
Just go to Texas Conservation website. If they're like MO. They'll list the lakes, ponds and rivers around where you live. They'll tell you what fish is in the lakes, ponds and rivers and should have maps too. Also all the handicapped spots around these lakes, ponds and rivers. That should get you started. Good luck and tight lines.
PS: don't forget the pic's

Hi Rachel, welcome to the stage.
There are some aggressive fishermen here but they are just having fun with each other, don’t be intimidated by their antics. They are old folk, some retired with nothing except fishing on their minds.
I posted a response on your other posting about the Conservation Site 11.
I am in P-ville, near you, PM if you would like. Garry

Welcome Rachel,to the stage. Nice to meet you too. Good Luck in your search, and remember we love pictures!
Hello Rachel,
Not a lot of "Great" fishing spots right here in RR, TX. I do know a couple of places that would be good for you to practice your skills such as casting, bait selection, etc.
For starters go to Veterans Park. The park runs alongside of Brushy creek. The creek has a dam and holds a really nice fishing pond. Warning, A lot fisherman have fished this area and the fish know it. LOL Go early, when its cool and first light.
You didn't mention "What" are fishing for, I presume its LM Bass. There are a lot of Catfish in this tank as well and the "catfishers" show up at dusk.
I know a few other areas you can try. IF your interested PM me.
I also know some great areas if your willing to travel up to 45 minutes and hike in.
Blue skies always.

Rachel, welcome to the fun and information.
Hey, Rachel. Welcome to the stage. Not knowing what you are fishing for I second the vote for Brushy Creek park off Parmer Lane. Also Settlers park behind Dell Diamond has some good fishing. Lake P also is well known. The lake on Discovery Blvd behind the Costco store on RM1431 has fishing areas and some walkways. Tough right now with the triple digit temps so go early and late. Some bass tournaments are fishing at night or very early getting off the water before noon. Good luck!

Howdy Rachel. Can't help with a fishing spot but I can say "good luck".
