My fishing partner just sent me a video of some people fishing, using a “scent”. 1 person put it a slide and pushed it out int the water and few seconds later your see a bunch of fish, another put some on his fingers and moved his fingers around some result and another had it had his bait, same reaction. We are new to fishing and learning aswe go. Has anyone seen this, used it? Don’t waste our money.

Welcome ReRe. I definitely believe scent on a lure can make a difference. If not, Power Bait and Gulp lures would not be as popular. I also use NetBait lures and a cream with anise. Good luck in your endeavors.

Thank you. We’d love to boat fish, but no longer have a boat or anything to pull it with…..so, stuck on the bank these days.

I know the feeling. Warriors Path State Park has a fishing pier you could catch some bluegills and maybe some bass. I know a lot of people fish Lil Wilbur (below Watauga dam). It’s one of the prettier areas around and has some trout in it. I have never tried the weir dam below South Holston dam, but a lot of fly fishermen and trout fishermen fish that area. Good luck and the Stagers like to see pictures, whether you catch or not.

Welcome to the Stage, Beachlover. It has been a long while since I have bank fished, but when I did I would normally go on the upper side of Patrick Henry dam or Boone dam. At that time I would use nightcrawlers, red worms, crickets or chicken livers. Good luck wherever you go and have patience. Some of these lakes are tough to fish.

Thanks! Had fun this morning, 11 crappie between 9 and noon, no pics but size between 10 and 12 inches. Minnows, ultralight tackle, 2pound test line. Forgot my little minnow net so it slowed me down catching the little buggers by hand. 😝

They will make some good eating. Keep it up and they’ll be calling you Ms Crappie.

Hey fellas,
I have a little jon boat trailer that is about 40 years old. I'm getting new tires today, but when I removed them I noticed on the back of the right side tire, it looks like the seal on the hub has blown out and grease has sprayed everywhere.

Is this something that can be repaired - and is it worth repairing? I was also considering just replacing the hubs with some "pre-packed" new ones that I can order. If we go that route, I'm curious how to get the proper size. Do I need to measure the axle (2" diameter) or the spindle that the hub mounts on?

(I have Bearing Buddies - do those actually keep the bearings continuously greased, or just add a layer of grease to keep water out of the hub assembly?)

On another note, I noticed that my rear turn signal won't work. How would you recommend going about fixing this?

Thanks guys - I'll try to grab a few pics. Much appreciated!

If you’re mechanically inclined, you can probably fix the bearing problem yourself. If not, any decent mechanic or trailer repair place can fix your bearing and light at a reasonable cost. The light probably needs a bulb, which you can replace.

I’ll be kayaking on the lower French Broad in Knox County, TN. Electric motor as needed/wanted. Any recommendations regarding fishing here? Thanks!

Welcome, Papa. Never fished the lower French Broad. Good luck and be safe. I would be remiss if I didn’t ask you to post some pictures.

If you’re looking to catch some striper bass on Cherokee Lake, they were hitting shad on a Carolina rig pretty consistently a couple months back. Planer boards worked as well as beaching the boat on shore.

Good looking catch there Ludo. Congrats.

My sincerest condolences, JD. I have the utmost confidence in your abilities. Street no men raise strong offspring and it sounds like you have soaked up a good deal of your fathers teachings and examples. Along the way you have probably discovered a few of your own.

This should have read “Strong men raise strong offspring”. I hate spellcheck.

Me and Louis went below lake Houston dam again, only kept 8 cats even though we caught about 30 little ones Tuesday night. Cancer certainly sux, it has got a few people I love recently

My condolences to Louis and his family Cam. They will be in my prayers.

What are they catching the most trout on this time of the month?

Welcome to the Stage. I am too far away to know anything about trout in your area. I catch them on night crawlers, powerbait, salmon eggs, corn, cheese, and even caught one on a Ned Rig a month ago. Good luck.
