Welcome to the site Glen. I'm close by in Blackfoot. From what I hear, ice still on at Chesterfield and Blackfoot Reservoir. But ice is off American Falls by you. I cought some good size Rainbow trolling Rappalas by the dam last year. Good small mouth also at AF. And of course Sturgeon below the dam. As soon as the ice is off, and the road opens from Blackfoot to Blackfoot Reservoir I will want to go up and bank fish. Three and four pound Rainbow up there. Rire reservoir should be free of ice soon. Some good Kokanee fishing there. Along with trout, Small Mouth and even Walleye. I'm your age and have been retired for 14 years now. I will send a PM and arrange a meeting.

So very sorry for your lose. Chriss Stapelton the country singer has a song he wrote: "Maggies" song. I've heard it five times now, and I have cried each time. I just can't get through it without crying. He promises in the song that a dog has a soul.

I was Elk hunting in Utah many years ago. I hadn't been finding the Elk, so I took a drive over to the other side of the mountain. I couldn't find any sign of them over there either. But on the way back I come upon a squirrel that was rolling a empty Budweiser can down the middle of the road. I took it as a good sign, and got my bull the next day not far from where I saw the squirrel.

I had been following this potato truck for several miles going 15 in a 30 mph zone. And finally I could see I had room to pass so I did. The car I could see coming my way was the cop. I pulled over immediately because I seen him flip around. He didn't even turn his lights on. As I handed him my license I told him I screwed up. "But he was going so slow, for so long." And his next words as he handed my license back was " Thanks for your service. "

The Kokanee limit at Rire is 15 per day. Me and my fishing buddy fished it twice last summer and got 30 Kokes twice. Each day, in under 3 hours. But they are not in that spot in the winter.

Thanks for remembering us plumbob. I would recommend to all veterans, if your State or County has them. Get a Veterans Drivers License. Mine here in Idaho has them and a lot of places offer 10% off for vets. Plus I have actually got out of two tickets. One for speeding and one for passing on a double yellow line. Both times the police officers, after taking my license back to the cop car, came back and handed it to me and said "Thank you for your service" And let me go.

Welcome to the site Mark. I'm over in East Idaho. I've been looking for Kokes at Rire Reservoir east of Idaho Falls. They have been hard to find but we have been catching trout there.

I'm 68 and have a 16 ft Lowe and like Catfish just said; back just enough to barley float it, then walk up the toung, unhook and push it off a little then jump in and start it and back off the rest of the way. I lower my tail gate of my Toyota before I back the trailer up and use the wheel to climb into the back. Most times I can do it without getting wet. If you can, always lower your tail gate when backing your empty trailer back into the water. Then you can see the trailer better with your center mirror. You can see it better than trying to use the side mirrors. I back up a little less when loading the boat and drive on the trailer then finish the last bit with the front winch.

Welcome to the Stage Dfoxut. I lived in Beaver for a couple years in the 70's. But I didn't ice fish then. Now I love it. Otter Creek would be my first choice.

I give it a good tug and sometimes it will unwind and the red will pop up. But in two feet of water, my bobber is set to 2 foot or just less. So I don't want a tangle.

No one ever beat me. And I let them start up so they were ready. A sharp Nils cuts a little faster than 1" per second.
