Why does my bobber float upside down?

I noticed that my round white and red fishing bobber would float upside down with the red side facing up. I seem to be hooking it to the line correctly. Anybody else would know why?

CanTn1145: If everything else is done correctly, you have rigged the float up side down. Just Sayin...RJS

Put a small split shot between the bobber and hook

just a side thought wouldn't the white side down make it harder for fish to see it since when they look up they see white light from above and with the red side up wouldn't that make it easier to see for the fisherman looking down? I know they aren't designed that way but shouldn't they be?

I have done this. I think some have a spring that is a little heavy. The split shot balances it out so the line is tiny bit heavier than the spring etc inside it.

Many higher end sliding bobbers use lead etc in them so they will float properly with longer main/leader to bobber drift or just plunk with bobbers for salmon.

Usually for shrimp cocktail for salmon in deep holes.

A little bit of info for all of you. The bobber size should match the weight of the lure. A heavy enough sinker is required to keep the bobber upright. Also the height of the bobber needs to be set properly. If it’s set to far from the sinker, then when the sinker is sitting on the bottom, the float won’t sit up right, it’ll lay over on it’s side.

I love fishing with red and white bobbers. Most of my catfish are caught in under 4 feet of water with them. And most in just two foot. And just just like DC said. I always go red up for the same reason. It seems to me they would be harder to see from the bottom. But when the bobber settles white side up, I know it is tangled.

The only time i've had that happen to me is the line looped around it during casting. Sometimes during reeling in it will undo, or I have to manually unloop it

I give it a good tug and sometimes it will unwind and the red will pop up. But in two feet of water, my bobber is set to 2 foot or just less. So I don't want a tangle.

That's simple, it's painted upside down. You have to use a reverse bobber with a under over sinker to resolve the problem. And a under over hand casting rod
.

That's a hard decision. In this case you have to raise the lake or lower the bottom.

Could stand on your head to alleviate the issue

A round bobber can be hooked several ways. I hook the top of the bobber wire closer to the line going to the pole. The bottom bobber wire is hooked to the line closer to the hook.
It sounds to me like you’re hooking the bobber (white half) and not hooking the bottom half (red).
