About 20 or so years ago I was deer hunting. I looked to the west towards the Olympic mountains and saw this huge Black Swept wing aircraft. It was the big B2 bomber. The big Stealth bomber was so quiet in the very quiet Mother Nature out doors. It just seemed to float along only seen by my MK 1 eyeballs. This is around the time of the Iraq war where Stealth fighters started being used.

Fishing out of Galilee RI with brothers and nephew. Nephew is a commercial fisherman in those waters. He mentions how sometimes he sees subs on the surface headed to or from Groton because of how shallow these waters are. Twenty minutes later we watched a sub on the surface headed for home.

3 deer crossing the river I was fishing is my neatest. Could not get close enough for a pic, they move as fast in the water as out.

While fishing in Canada one time we saw a bear swimming from one island to another island. We motored up to it and touched it on its back. Of course. the other guy had an ore in his hand if it decided to come on board. We could say we touched a bear in the wild. That made for good beer talk, but that is about it.

A moose swimming across the Eagle Lake in Canada. Had a camera but we were too excited to do anything except watch. Told the dock hands when we returned and they asked, “Did you ride it?” They do ride them in deep water and jump off before moose get to shallow water. Might have done it in my 20’s 😉

Was fishing with my dad 30 some years ago on the Toronto dam spillway. They had 3 of the 8 gates open so the flow was somewhat swift. Around 9 pm we seen something swimming in the water on the other side of the spillway. It swam across the swift water and headed towards us then into the corner for a while, it was a deer. It then swam back across the swift current and got out of the water. It stuck around for about an hour then left. It was like he done this every night. Them deer swim really good!

Fishing Five Fathom Creek had a few dolphin come right up to the boat and we all got to pet them. This is where the shrimp trawlers throw over there by products and the dolphin get use to people. Fishing down in the Keys throw over a small grouper that died and a Frigate came and got it right next to the boat. Never seen a bird with that wide of a wing span.

I had to look up the frigate bird. Until now, I thought a frigate was a warship.
Learned something today. Thanks.

About 1980 I took a walk down to the Pine River while deer hunting in Northern WI. The river was frozen on the edges, but the main body was open with steam rising into the air. I came upon a pair of otters playing on the ice, wrestling, playing tag, etc. I was about 20yds away and they would run a route over a log, dive into a hole downstream…disappear for about 10 seconds then pop up on the ice upstream of me, one would tackle the other and then take off as if racing each other. It may have been one of the most purely entertaining things I have ever seen. They had no idea I was there and they were just having fun. I was glued to that spot for over an hour in amazement. At one point on the return lap one surfaced with a 10-11” brown trout in its mouth which they shared on the ice. Once the trout was gone, it was game on again! No deer to drag that day, but it was a great day nonetheless!

Kerry, my neat experience was while deer hunting up on '20 odd' out of Trout Creek MT. I was standing next to a tree on a eyebrow trail when a cow moose walked by at arms length. When she was right beside me I said 'Good Morning'. She spun around and went up a mountain side steep as a cows face like she was on flat ground. What she couldn't go under she jumped over. What a powerful animal.
Thinking back over it, she could just as easily swatted me off the Mt. What Was I Thinking.

I live kinda close to Beale AFB. It's one of the places (maybe the only place?) where pilots practice flying U2 spy planes. Not unusual to see one of those gliding along with no sound.

Couple of things. I'd been fishing a Little Grass Valley lake and Kathe and I are heading home driving out of the little town of LaPorte up in the mountains. Out of the corner of my eye I see what I think is a big brown dog running beside me. Kathe says "man that's a big dog". I slow down a little to get a better look. That ain't no dog. It was black bear doing about 40 mph. It looked at me, I at it, and I pulled away.

And I was going to go fishing at Gerle Creek Reservoir one early spring day, the sun was shining brightly, warming the granite boulders which are everywhere up there, and it looked like every rattle snake in California had showed up for a spa day. I left them to it.

I hunted Elk and Deer Stalking style. More than two times while I was stalking thru an area I saw another hunter sitting on a stump watching to see if I flushed anything out, letting me do the work. One of those time a BIG buck with a large rack walks out of the brush right behind him no more than 50-75' pause, watched the hunters back and then turned around and faded back into the brush. The other time a Bull Elk came out. It had very long spike maybe 24" or more. It watched the guy for a while then turns around and fades back into the brush. Those two guys never knew how close those animals were to them and I never told them. I don't like working for someone else.
