Good advice from Nick Amato - Go to Goodwill or other non-profit stores and get a pair of used tennis shoes that have a good sole. Great for rocks and stones. For algae bottoms get a pair of golf shoes, preferably with the rubber spikes.

Didn’t need to be hateful. I have a Helix 7 (G3N). Now that I have seen live imaging I wish I had the capability to add this. Helix 8 is the lowest unit that will work.

Return it and get the Helix 8. At some point you may want to add live imaging. Live imaging will not work on the Helix 7 but will work on the Helix 8.

Beautiful. Congratulations, and thanks for posting. Have any of your friends mentioned whether they have shown up in the Sandy yet? (Have an Oregon license and don’t really want to put out the money for a Washington one also.)

But they are being caught near the channel. Unfortunately the sea lions are in that part and in that section of the Columbia. Several weeks ago a 30# chinook was taken near Meldrum Bar. They are in the Willamette. You just have to be persistent and keep trying to find the right location and what they want that day. Line has to be in the water to have any success. Be confidant and enjoy your outing.

Multnomah channel and confluence with Columbia for trolling, Oregon City for anchoring, parks at mouth of Clackamas for bank fishing. Good luck.

For extra casting distance, such as wanting to cast a fly on a spinning rod in those waters where only fly fishing is allowed, we use small floats that you fill with water. They are football shape.

An inexpensive and easy protective sleeve can be made from electrical cable sheathing. Get the nylon 1.5". Amazon, Home Depot, Ace Hardware all carry them. They come in rolls. Heat one end with a hair dryer, then put the back end of a screwdriver into the sheath while it is hot and let it cool. Use a screwdriver that has a butt slightly larger than the largest guide on your rod. This will hold the two pieces of your rod together down to the reel or the lure. You can roll up a flap on the large end to make it look neater. Make sure that the end is singed so it does not unravel. At the tip just roll it lengthwise and tape it. This way you can carry the rods already rigged and not have to carry as much gear. I bought one roll and made five sheaths. Good luck.

Where are the steelhead in Washington state right now I live in Everett Washington I need to catch some fish, LOL 😁

Could add Costo and Whole Foods to the other reply, but I won't. From looking at the WFWD site (I live in Oregon) it looks like the closest to you are Green River, Cooper River, and Piper's Creek.

This is what we used in Costa Rica. My largest. Actually broke the body and bent the metal rod. Took 1 hour and 45 minutes to land. My dad's last trip. Wonderful memories.

Many articles opine that the next world record walleye will come from the Columbia, primarily upriver from Portland.

Catch them from my deck here in Oregon throughout the spring and summer. Surprised no one mentioned curly tailed grub in white or brown.

Costa Rica by all means. Best friend to the USA in Latin America. The tarpon are a ball. Florida tarpon may weigh 90 lbs, these will be 140. Catch them near shore from a small boat or even from the shore. Freshwater have some very interesting choices also. Enjoy yourself off the water too. People are superb.

Looking to get a new baitcaster. Budget around $250 what do you all recommend? Curado DC, Diawa Tatula SV or something else?

I just bought two Curado DC through madepon.com for $75.99 each. Overseas firm, but guaranteed to be the manufacturer's reel, not a knockoff. Haven't received them yet, but will update this posting if it is not the real (reel?) thing.
